I Don't Recall!

Reagan used it, Scooter Libby used it, George Allen used it, Rumsfeld used it, Denny Hastert used it, Cheney threatened to use it and now Condi Rice is using it. When the truth gets in the way, apparently the best defense is, "I don't recall"!

When Bob Woodward's book, "State of Denial" claimed that Condoleezza Rice, then the National Security Advisor was briefed by George Tenant, Head of the CIA on an impending attack, she couldn't recall the meeting.

"What I am quite certain of is that I would remember if I was told, as this account apparently says, that there was about to be an attack in the United States, and the idea that I would somehow have ignored that I find incomprehensible," Rice said.

However today in a report by the New York Times, Ms. Rice was briefed!

Now, after several days, both current and former Bush administration officials have confirmed parts of Mr. Woodward’s account.

Officials now agree that on July 10, 2001, Mr. Tenet and his counterterrorism deputy, J. Cofer Black, were so alarmed about an impending Al Qaeda attack that they demanded an emergency meeting at the White House with Ms. Rice and her National Security Council staff.

This makes one wonder, what else do our leaders not RECALL?

This isn't about NC Politics

But it does affect us...hope you don't mind me posting here too. Just put this up at my blog.

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

It's totally about NC politics.

We have rubberstampers in Congress who let Madame Secretary and AWOL George get away with their disgusting incompetence.

It's time for them to own up to their miserable failure as a co-equal branch of government.

Thanks A,

Heard Hastert today on the news talking about the page/pedophile problem. It struck me that the big problem with Congress now is that they seem to have forgotten that part of their job is oversight!

Oversight v. Overlook

They don't know there's a difference between oversight and overlook.

NYT reports that the Tenet / Rice meeting did occur, and was reported to 9/11 commission but participants report different spin than Woodward.

Oh that's good Greg!

ya know, i would be honored if any of you posted a comment on my blog!

(Please forgive me for a little "blogwhoring"....)

Go "my blog"

on the left side of the page. Then hit "edit" - which will take you to a bunch of different settings. One of those setting is for a signature that will be automatically pasted into whatever comments you're making.
