How are we gonna get our best and brightest to ever run for elective office up-and-down the line again so we can solve these problems instead of just talking about them all the time?

Never happen. Not as long as government-hating dominates the Republican agenda ... and cowardice dominates the Democratic agenda.

We get what we pay for, which means we are effectively turning our democracy over to rich business interests.

We Get What We Deserve Then...

and that is the lowest common denominator in terms of experience; intelligence; ability and motivation.

on both ends of the political spectrum....it is not totally the 'big, bad rich business interests' that are poisoning the political waters.

There are 535 smart liberals and conservatives of the highest integrity and independents/unaffiliateds/libertarians in this land who could solve most of our problems in the first 6 months of the next Congress if they were running for office.

Sadly, they are not in the current crop.
