It's amazing what $15 million a year can buy
If you've had any doubts about the toxic reach of Art Pope's well-funded opinion manufacturing machines, here's a small sampling of what the picture looks like at the News and Observer.

As announced earlier, I am requesting proposals from individuals or organizations to execute an investigation of the Show's undue influence on North Carolina's media landscape. The need for this research is urgent. It's bad enough that one wealthy individual can buy the General Assembly and the Wake County School Board, but when he can also buy editorial control over North Carolina's so-called newspaper of record, we may very well have reached a point of no return.

All searches conducted the same way on teh Google
These searches were done using the "news" tap on Google, with the name as shown on the chart put in quotation marks, followed by "site:newsobserver.com"
For example:
"Art Pope" site:newsobserver.com
And so on.
This is admittedly and imprecise approach, and I am looking for someone, a master's degree candidate, for example, to do this by the book and exhaustively. Please contact me if you are interested in taking this on. I don't have $15 million to spend, but I will provide a small amount of funding for a proposal that would effectively examine the emerging journalistic wasteland.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
