Jim Black Certified Winner by SBOE

The North Carolina State Board of Elections has certified Jim Black as the winner for another term in the North Carolina House.

Let the games begin!

Now would be a good time to email your rep and let him or her know the qualities you think are important in the person who will lead the House.

The Charlotte Observer has the story.

Sad Clown says, let's celebrate.

Tears of a Clown

Now if there's a smile on my face
It's only there trying to fool the public

I think it will be interesting to watch

the feet shuffling and hemming and hawing. My rep Drew Saunders had said he would run for Speaker IF Black didn't have the votes. What the hell does that mean? Either you think you should be speaker or you don't. Jim Black has done a lot of good for this state and for Mecklenburg County during his tenure. I think he just didn't know when to retire.....well...that and the power grab problem....and will that brush with corruption....and..... ;)

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

what we need

With Basnight being from Manteo and Sen Rand being from Fayetteville, I would like to see someone from the mountains be elected speaker. I have no idea who would fill that gap, since I dont know all 70 house members. If not the mountains how about Greensboro or High Point area?

I'm not sure if I heard he is running or if that is just my imagination. Davidson is at least West of center.

My letter

Dear Rep. Fisher,

I enjoyed seeing you at the Drinking Liberally Election Night party and meeting you at the DFA "After Hours" event at Mela. I phone banked in your name and supported your efforts because I find you ethical and trustworthy.

It is on the questions of ethics and trust that I write today. Speaker Jim Black's narrow victory in his district means he's the odds-on favorite to be Speaker in the new legislative session. There are, however, other candidates whose ethics are beyond reproach. After an election that hinged so much on ethical dealings, it would be insulting to the people of North Carolina to return the tainted Jim Black to the Speaker's role.

Without naming a specific candidate (both I've heard mentioned sound excellent), please consider voting for someone other than Jim Black, so the North Carolina Democratic Party can restore excellence to the Speakership.

Feel free to use any part of this in your own letter. Every BlueNCer ought to be writing. There's no excuse not to...
