Joe Biden for Vice-President

Now that the Democratic contest for President is in its last throes, it is time to play the time-honored parlor game called "Guess the Veep." Over the next six to eight weeks, expect to hear many names bantered about, along with the strengths that each name would bring to the ticket. The whole exercise is sort of like the NCAA basketball tournament pools. Everyone is a genius and has the inside scoop until the games start being played. Having said that, I thought it was time to show off my genius.

I saw an interview today with Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) and it only strengthened what I have thought for a few months now. Joe Biden should be the Democratic nominee for Vice-President.

Don't use "last throes" and "Vice President" together...:)

I go back and forth on this...Joe is actually my guy, I was for him first for president in 2008, then changed to Clinton after Iowa. I want him as Secretary of State, but I think he would definitely be the ying to Vice President Cheney's yang (or the Glenda to his Wicked Witch of the West, whatever works for ya).

Biden would given Obama, if the nominee, everything he needs: A foreign policy expert, and an established Democrat. And there's some faulty alliteration with "Obama/Biden" that rolls off the tongue. Though you know there would have to be a "clean" joke during the acceptance speech. :)

Agree that it's a great idea

But i kinda doubt that it will happen. Still, he'd be a great choice for a variety of offices.

I like the idea

But I don't want to give up his Senate seat, either. I have no idea what the political conditions in Delaware are, but I'd hate to see the Senate lose one of its Democratic Lions to a Republican cub.

His son would run for it and win easily.

Beau is currently the AG and a great guy, and wouldn't have a hard time winning the Senate seat.

I suspect it'll be Governor

I too was rooting for Biden. I was worried he wouldn't stand out enough to win the primary though, and that ended up being correct sadly.

I still think we'll end up a western state Governor in the VP spot. Senate seats are precious, and executive experience would help. We've seen how little gets done with a near 50/50 split. Webb interests me though. Do you guys really think he'd help put NC and Virginia in play?
