Larry Kissell Continues the Fight

If it's OK, I'm going to simply post Larry's statement and leave out any of my personal commentary. Larry is my hero!

Please follow below the fold for his statement...

"My phone has been ringing off the hook this morning. Concerned Americans are calling in and offering their prayers and support while the final votes are tallied. The one thing that is crystal clear is that the best election lawyers in America are on their way to join our local legal team to assist the fight in making sure that all the votes are counted. I'm also humbled by the financial support that we are getting in order to fully fund my campaign while we wait for the votes to be counted.

Simply put, I am encouraged this morning. We are only 346 votes down at the moment and there are still votes to be counted.

What the results tell me is that the people have spoken and they have demanded change.

The proof is in the numbers. I beat Hayes in counties that he has traditionally won in the past. I ran strong in Hayes' home county of Cabarrus exceeding recent Democratic margins there as well as in Union and Stanly Counties.

That's why I feel confident that once the votes are counted, that we will have taken our country back from the Washington politicians and special interests."

Thanks for keeping up the fight, Larry.

Wow

What's the current take on how many ballots remain to be counted, SD? And where are they?

I'm sure there are some in every county

I don't know how many or where. It would be nice if there were a lot in Mecklenburg. I'm sure they are trying to determine all of that right now.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

1700?

Somebody last night made reference to there being 1700 in Mecklenburg alone.

What a classy guy.

Can't wait to call him Congressman!

Indeed he is!

Either way, Kissell has won in my book and many thanks to him.

Much satisfaction comes from the fact that Larry is giving Hayes a real run for his money!

GO LARRY!

This race is far from over.

I'm so proud of Larry for standing up for the good folks in the 8th to make sure every vote gets counted!

Robin Hayes Hates Puppies

Go, Larry!

The SBOE has it at...

Robert C. (Robin) Hayes REP 60,481
Larry Kissell DEM 60,016

as of 11/9/2006 11:01:06 AM.

hm.

From the Observer...

"The State Board of Elections Web site showed a tighter margin of 346 votes Wednesday, but that still includes some Richmond County results that were accidentally double-counted, said county elections director Connie Kelly."

...

"There are at least 900 provisional ballots that election officials are examining to determine whether they will be counted. Additionally, Scotland County had not counted its provisional ballots. Cabarrus County has 348 provisional ballots, but it's unclear how many came from the two Cabarrus precincts (out of 43) outside the 8th District.

Provisional ballots will not be counted until Nov. 17, and the State Board of Elections is not scheduled to declare any results official until Nov. 28. No recount could happen until after that. The current margin is well within the 1 percent threshold that lets a trailing candidate request a recount."

Anyone got any positive reinforcement for me?

Keep your head up

This race is not done. I have heard that Larry was never anything but upbeat on election night. As you all know, he is a deacon at his local church (only other elected position he had run for before) and he believes that we are going to be ok, and I believe in him. We dont have this yet, but we will get it.

latest Kissell statement

Statement of Larry Kissell

"The North Carolina State Board of Elections compiled a district-wide count of all the provisional ballots cast in the 8 th congressional election. Their work yielded 1492 uncounted provisional ballots. I am confident that once all these votes are counted that we will be victorious.

Between now and November 17th, the day these provisional votes will be counted, my campaign team, local legal team and national election law specialists will be working day and night to make sure the integrity of this election is upheld.

We have worked too hard to let a single vote go uncounted, or be unjustly thrown out.

That's why we are actively raising money and coordinating an army of recount experts who will be prepared for any contingency in the counting of the votes.

In addition to the provisional vote counting, there are numerous reports of concerned voters who claim of voting access issues. We are actively investigating each of these reports. While it's too early to know if these reports will yield any significant results, or affect the vote totals, my campaign is 100 percent committed to making sure every vote is counted.

So even after a long campaign, we are still fighting to take our country back from the Washington politicians and special interests. This final chapter of this campaign is proving to be one of the more interesting, but it's a story that we will see through until the final vote is counted."

And the Democratic Party has sent their top recount specialist to NC-08 for the recount in the Larry Kissell race. (You know, the one that might not need a recount if the DCCC had diverted $100,000 there of the $3 million pissed away in IL-06.)

Dear Flipper:

I hope you don't go have to look in any mirrors after reading this statement by Larry Kissell. Because if you do, you'll have to face the fact that you don't hold a candle to this good man.

Folks, this is what integrity, clarity of purpose and decency look like. If Flipper had any of those qualities he'd call Larry right now and say, "I'm sorry. You're a better person to serve the 8th District than I am."

That's a hard truth, but it's the truth all the same. The 8th district deserves better than Robin Hayes.
