Latest version of Voter ID bill says some people can't get a Voter ID

What fresh idiocy is this?

From the latest version of the "Voter ID" bill:

(b) No registered voter shall be eligible for a North Carolina voter identification card if that registered voter has a valid unexpired drivers license, learner's permit, provisional license, or a special identification card for nonoperators issued under G.S. 20-37.7.

So, these idiots are going to require people to have a photo ID to vote, and then bar people from getting a voter ID.

Insanity!

At least one of the previous ideas was to use the new Voter Registration cards that were going to be mailed to EVERY voter in the state.

Now, the vast majority of voters will be BARRED BY LAW from getting a Voter ID card.

Absolutely insane.

Using new age free market Pope Republican Math, that stops all minorities, senior citizens, convicted DWI democrats, poor people, Blind people that can't drive, Teen Agers 18 and older, College Students who can't pay their car insurance on time, Alien Lizards with 4 hands from Lizard Lick North Carolina, Mental challeged individuals that never finish high school while in a wheelchair. Well I certainly oppose the voter ID bill but ...........it looks to me like what you quoted is just saying that you only get a voter ID card if you don't have a driver's license or nonoperator id issued from the DMV. Those that have a driver's license aren't eligible for the voter ID cards because the driver's license that they possess serves the purpose of proving identity.

I'm a moderate Democrat.

Therefore, this law as drafted is unconstitutional under the North Carolina State Constitution Article I, Sections 10 and 11.

Sec. 10. Free elections.
All elections shall be free.

Sec. 11. Property qualifications.
As political rights and privileges are not dependent upon or modified by property, no property qualification shall affect the right to vote or hold office.

If I want to vote, I must be able to do so freely -- with no demand of payment to the state.

These "voter ID cards" must be made available to all voters, or this bill is unconstitutional.

 

Prillvilege Voting by the Repubs Only

What the Repubs have done is they are making voting a privilege insteaded of a natural consitutional right for citizens. A Driver license is consider a privilege by the State instead of a right such as voting. Only Tyrants and Kings can grant privileges.. It appears that the Tea Party Republicans have forgot that we have no Kings...
