Lay Off Ed Finley

On second thought, I had better not post all that I wrote. Suffice it to say, Ed Finley, my former colleague, and the Governor's nominee to serve as Chaiman of the NC Utilities Commission, is a dang fine lawyer and an even better person, and his law career should be viewed as an asset, not a drawback. That he is being attacked as having a "one sided" approach to utilities law is a travesty. Criminal defense attorneys can serve as judges without being accused of being "one sided" in their application of the law. Ed Finley served his clients. That's a lawyer's job. And he is one of the best.
Lay off.

Not really! If you are a tool of the elite legal establishment, you can always turn down those large corporate fees to prove you are lawyer of principle and a mountain man along with being a beach boy for the little people.

I've never heard of him...so what's with the "Lay Off" business? And, if you're gonna post, do you plan to hang around and answer questions or just blow and go? Best I know no one here has a thing for attorneys...several of us are real fond of John Edwards...and most of us judge people based on what kind of a person they are, not what they do for a living.

The Utilities Commission
The Utilities Commissioners are a fine group with some tough decisions to make. They could be more pro consumer though. Would he be able to see decisions about who pays for new coal plants that are actually investments by stock holders- with possible pro consumer view?
That Commission is not going to get less controversial in the future.
