Liddy Alert!!

Oh boy, How big is this? From Raw Story:

Elizabeth Dole, the Republican Senator from North Carolina, who was a one-time candidate for President of the United States, will not seek re-election in 2008, according to the blogger who was the first to publish former Congressman Mark Foley's e-mails with teenaged, male Congressional pages.

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Blogger__Senator_Elizabeth_Dole_wont_1205.html

Seems to me, she was just running her mouth about looking forward to the '08 campaign...

And to continue from the linked story:

Lane Hudson, who blogged at Stop Sex Predators anonymously before being "outed" at Radar Online, reported the news at his new blog called News for the Left, citing a "confidential source on Capitol Hill." He claims that in the aftermath of the Republican Party's failure to secure their majority in the US Senate, Dole has become so "completely demoralized" that she is no longer interested in standing for re-election.

Completely demoralized? I wonder what has changed since just last week? Maybe she saw the handwriting on the wall? Maybe the RNC 'leadership' came to her and said they weren't going to back her? Maybe -fill in the blank-

Raw Story is supposed to have update coming...

This. Is.

HUGE. (If true)

Her office is saying she's still running.

Senator Dole's Office was contacted earlier in the day by RAW STORY. Several hours later, they responded via e-mail that "Senator Dole is running for re-election in 2008."

The Raw Dole Virga Deal?

Lane Hudson, who blogged at Stop Sex Predators Virga purhases to Bob Dole anonymously before being "outed" at a Carolina Panthers Cheerleader meeting in Flordia last year , reported the news at his new blog called News for the Fools on the Right, citing a "confidential source in the Capitol Hill restrooms." He claims that in the aftermath of the Republican Party's failure to secure their majority in the US Senate, Dole has become so "completely demonalized" that she is no longer interested in standing for re-election nor watching the recent release of " The DeVince Code"

Senator Dole's Office was contacted earlier in the day by RAW STORY via cell phone text code. Several hours later, they responded via e-mail text that former"Senator Bob Dole is not running for re-election in 2008 on the board of the Virga Corporation"

Senator Dole is considering running for President of the United States again due to a recent medical discovery at Duke University about Brain Transplants.

A Media conference is in the works for more information about this sudden change in Senator Dole mood swings.

Please don't let this be true.

Raw Story gets it right a lot of the time, but they also strike out plenty, too. I SO want the Very Senior Senator for North Carolina to run again.

Please don't let this be true.

Another entry says she's denying the story.

Only bonus.

Is that we run for an open senate seat and an open house seat if Myrick chooses to run.

CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.

Maybe Myrick

isn't the only GOPer looking to move up. How about a battle of Myrick vs. Hayes vs. Ginny Foxx vs Walter Jones = 4 new Democrats in the House! Please let Vernon Robinson run, too. I would need a lot of popcorn.

Blue South's picture

hayes

a lot of people think he is running for governor.

either governor or stay where he is. he isnt gonna run for senate, no matter what liddy does.

HelpLarry.com

Governor?

After nearly loosing to Kissell, Hayes can't possibly think he'd get much support in a gubenatorial race. After what we all learned about him from SD's reports, I know that there are lots of us who were itching to have a chance to vote against him.

However, that would leave things wide open for Kissell in 08...

He's got the name recognition.

the money, and...unfortunately, he won in a Democratic district in a Democratic wave year.

Thanks DCCC

This would be great

Flipper vs. the Asphalt King vs. the Puppetmaster's Ambulance Chaser

A three way slug-fest where each has to pander farther to the right to out-wacko the others!

all the while NC trends more blue and more populist.

Well, it may or may not be true

Just saw this update from Raw Story:

Senator Dole's Office was contacted earlier in the day by RAW STORY. Several hours later, they responded via e-mail that "Senator Dole is running for re-election in 2008."

So, who knows? Well have to wait and see, But I'm thinking there may be more to this than meets the eye. Stories like this don't just pop up, at least not from the left. Of course, that's just my opinion...

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only UNPATRIOTIC and servile, but it is morally treasonable to the American public.

Blue South's picture

tin foil

What if she isnt running, but is so pissed at the NC GOP and those who would run to replace her that she is keeping them from jumping in for as long as possible?

She IS the "take my ball and go home" type, that much has been made clear plenty of times.

HelpLarry.com

Wouldn't that be fun to watch?

Jim Sheaves's picture

Is she really that petty..

to stick it to the GOP like that? One the one hand, I can see it since the gop'ers do blame her for the loss of the Senate, but then, she's always been a good little storm trooper and carried out her orders as directed from HQ.

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only UNPATRIOTIC and servile, but it is morally treasonable to the American public.

Blue South's picture

lets hope

I hope she is that petty.

"good little storm trooper" -- great description of "her"

HelpLarry.com

I heard she wasn't planning on continuing as RNSC chair

I wonder if the blogger got mixed messages. Raw story gets it wrong more often than right, so I'll wait on this one.

sullyman's picture

That's old news

Raw Story is better than that. Mel Martinez was named a few weeks ago.

Blue South's picture

RNC is not NRSC

I always get their NR and RN's mixed up

ours is soooo much easier. DNC DSCC DCCC.....easy

Darn, and I am out of whiskey.

This calls for a quick trip to the ABC store (which by the way is against all things good and libertarian I think).

Don't forget, "A Raw Dole"

A Raw Dole that Robert has had up and running for several months.

She is SUCH an easy target. I still can't figure out how her popularity numbers are so high.

Robert P.'s picture

It's actually a year and a half old....

but I abandoned it for OurSpectrum and then BlueNC. Now, it looks like I can mothball it all together.

CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.

Don't you dare!

It needs to be up and running. I wouldn't stress over the stories, but print them as you find them just to keep a record. You never know what that old broad is going to do.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
