I'm probably going to go to the TV and just watch....

CNN has already posted some of GOP Gov. Jindal's anticipated rebuttal remarks:

"To solve our current problems, Washington must lead," Jindal will say, according to excerpts of his speech released by the Republican National Committee. "But the way to lead is not to raise taxes and put more money and power in the hands of Washington politicians. The way to lead is by empowering you, the American people, because we believe that Americans can do anything."

I wonder if he when he will pull his head out of his ass long enough to recognize or admit that the Republicans in Congress have willingly participated in increasing our deficit spending by over $500 billion a year for the last 6 years. and, it's money poured down the rat-hole in Iraq and elsewhere. Remember the $12 Billion that was put on pallets and air-lifted to Iraq and then disappeared into thin air? Leadership? Empowering Americans? Did Jindal just step out of a time warp? The GOP hasn't demonstrated a fresh idea throughout the discussion of the stimulus. Empowering us? Hell, Big business was happy to disembowel the American Worker by shipping our factories and jobs to cheap labor places overseas...and Washington just acted as if nothing was happening.

I've said the GOP has a death wish. I hope they get it. Sooner rather than later.

I'm so disgusted by these mealy-mouthed weasels that I can hardly decide whether to go blind or go bowling.

I'll be interested to see if the GOP has the common courtesy to at least stand and applaud our new president. I remember the GOP cheering loudly for the biggest asshole to ever inhabit the White House...GWB.

is anyone on?

I can't figure out if anyone is blogging on this GREAT speech we just heard. The talking heads are already saying it's juggling too many balls in the air at once to do all this, he should be more realistic, etc. I say, go for it. The Audacity of Hope. Yes we can, and all that! Go for it!

Bobby Jindal is a robot.

If you watched him walk up to deliver his rebuttal speech, you can only come to the conclusion that he runs on batteries.

Creepy

Every words was another nail in his national political coffin. If this is the best the GOP can come up with, they are truly in deep doo-doo.

Really the only smart thing he could have done

is to come out and say "What an inspiring speech the President just gave. I will just keep quiet right now."

I heard someone on MSNBC say that the President had given such a positive speech that he had a virtual checkmate with the Party of NO.

Progressives are the true conservatives.

My thoughts

I liked Obama's speech, I thought that it addressed what it needed to and lay forward priorities and morals, which is the first step towards solutions. I feel really inspired about is when he talks about energy and infrastructure. There's a superb podcast as part of the Thinking Big conference/book release, called "Green Jobs and America's Role in the World" with guests Jim Harkness and Jason Walsh from Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and Green For All, respectively.

Thanks. A good link.
