McHenry Lives Up To Expectations

True to earlier reports that Patrick McHenry has become the designated pit bull for House Republicans, there's a quote offered from the quarrelsome Congressman in today's Washington Times. This staunchly conservative paper has been making much of a mention in the Ethics Panel report on the Mark Foley scandal that Rahm Emmanuel may have had early knowledge of Foley's unpleasant e-mails. The Washington Times is trying to expand this insinuation into a story, without any corroboration, that Emmanuel shopped the e-mails to newspapers before November's election.
Regardless of the absence of any evidence that Emmanuel had any evidence of Foley's sad correspondence, or shopped it anywhere, The Washington Times reports that "Rep. Patrick T. McHenry, North Carolina Republican, called the news 'stunning,' and accused Mr. Emanuel of letting a 'predator roam free' for 'cold, calculated political advantage.'
Evidently McHenry is trying his best to live up to the expectations of Tom DeLay, the Congressman's mentor before resigning due to a scandal of his own. Back in April The Washington Times reported in an article entitled "Delay Looks for a Worthy Successor"...
Departing Rep. Tom DeLay, Texas Republican, says any of three colleagues could some day assume his role as leader of conservatives in the House.
Asked who might be the House's "next Tom DeLay," the former majority leader, once considered the most powerful Republican in Congress, named three Republicans: Rep. Adam H. Putnam of Florida, Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana and Rep. Patrick T. McHenry of North Carolina.
Mr. McHenry said, "I'm blown away ... I'm so excited that Tom DeLay would say that about me."

He's ignored back home
so he has to go to the Washington Times. What a moron.

Any person who would consider it an honor
to be lauded by Tom "the Bugman" Delay . . . one of the slimiest politicians in modern history . . . is either a fool, a crook or both.
In the case of Wee Pattie, I vote for both. And I can't wait until new websites like "PitBullPatty.com" start coming online. The citizens of his district really do need to understand the pathological dysfunction of their wacko representative.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
I normally ignore this aspect...
but isn't his being the poster boy for the conservative movement, while being in the closet somewhat ironic?

Holy Flying Foley! What more proof do you need after reading Little Tinkle Bell McHenry comment about him and Tom being partners in the closet of Republican "blown away" politics.
What Kind of Excitement?
I'd be appalled that Tom DeLay even *knew* me - let alone had anything to say about me.
What kind of role models does this guy have!?
Oh...but not McHenry
He was "blown away"

its his "anti-gayness" that reeks of hypocrisy
and it will come back to haunt him, when
he too, like Foley, ends up on the
"front of the page".
Another good one George...
So glad that Moore county has great representation here at BlueNC! Thanks again for joining us and participating, you are a great writer!

I'm literally sick

Conservative Site/Paper ties McHenry to Foley Scandal
Like the other fallen "mighty" GOP before him, conservatives will back away in revulsion by the real Patrick McHenry.
It's already starting:
McHenry in the WaPo
He is getting some serious press, unfortunately I think it is the wrong kind in this environment.

and, of course, this
Thanks to Milbank, it was a PR debacle for McHenry. The Junior Congressman could not have looked more foolish if he showed up wearing his pajamas.

McHenry - the new DeLay
I think we need to lower our expectations. I figure he's going to be good for plenty of stories and that's about it.
Anyone hear anything new on the DeLay front. Imagine how much fun it will be to use McHenry's comments about his pleasure at being compared to DeLay if old Tom is found guilty of anything.
