Here's the link. This story is about Patrick McHenry intimidating and silencing those who oppose him. The man worships at the altar of Tom Delay and nothing is beneath him.

This is a chance to keep scrutiny's light on McHenry, so we need to tell the whole country.

This person’s complaint was that the information contained on the website was false, misleading and potentially in violation of corporate libel and slander laws.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't a valid reason to terminate a hosting contract - the courts have generally held that web hosts are common carriers and aren't liable for what their subscribers post on those sites (additionally, it says this in pretty much any site's TOS).

Specifically, from their TOS:

AlphaOne Technology takes no responsibility for any material input by others and not posted to the AlphaOne Technology Network by AlphaOne Technology. AlphaOne Technology is not responsible for the content of any other websites linked to the AlphaOne Technology Network; links are provided as Internet navigation tools only. AlphaOne Technology disclaims any responsibility for any such inappropriate use and any liability to any person or party for any other person or party's violation of this policy.

Even if it's not that, however, the ISP can take down any site when it feels like it:

AlphaOne Technology reserves the right to suspend network access to any customer if in the judgment of the AlphaOne Technology network administrators the customer's server or the given Web space is the source or target of the violation of any of the other terms of the AUP or for any other reason which AlphaOne Technology chooses.

Funny thing is that their AUP opens with:

Similarly, we do not exercise editorial control over the content of any web site, e-mail transmission, newsgroups, or other material created or accessible over or through the services, except for certain proprietary Web sites.

Short answer is that the guy's webhost is being an asshole. I like DreamHost, and ASmallOrange as hosts, but even Blogger is generally good about ignoring these messages.

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, a new host had to be found and boodles of information had to be transferred/restored.

It was almost like being homeless. :(
