McHenry whistles past the graveyard
Riding shotgun to protect his gravy train:
The Cherryville Republican told Richard Cordray, testifying before a House oversight panel, that it wasn't personal, but that Cordray would wield too much ill-defined power that could ultimately hurt financial markets and their customers.
Who have been wielding way too much ill-defined power since Republicans set them free from regulatory constraints over a decade ago. Make no mistake, McHenry has a huge stake in how this turns out:
ADVANCE AMERICA CASH ADVANCE CENTERS INC POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE = $10,000
AMERICAN BANKERS ASSOCIATION PAC (BANKPAC) = $5,000
BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION FEDERAL PAC = $5,000
COMMUNITY FINANCIAL SERVICES ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE = $5,000

THE GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP, INC. POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE = $11,000
WELLS FARGO AND COMPANY EMPLOYEE PAC (AKA WELLS FARGO EMPLOYEE PAC) = $2,500
There are several more smaller financial sector donors on this list that I haven't shown here. Of the $238,013 in PAC donations for this cycle, about half came from the very people who this Commission will be regulating.

Surprise, surprise
McHenry doing what McHenry does best ... trolling for special interests at the expense of regular voters.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
Payday lenders
Taking a look at his contributions from individuals, you'll see a whole lot of payday lenders, including $10,000 from the Mackechnies of AMSCOT Financial. Who appear to have recovered nicely from RICO charges back in 1998:
Which really shouldn't surprise anybody. McHenry's been pulling a scam on his constituents for years.
