McIntyre to Vote for S-CHIP

Washington, D.C. – Congressman McIntyre stated, “As a long-time advocate for children for over 25 years, and as one who has consistently supported family health issues, I will not support President Bush’s veto of the SCHIP bill, and I will vote to override his veto. My objection to the method of funding for this bill and my support of North Carolina’s farmers and the economic well-being of our communities are well-known, but I have always supported the SCHIP program and will do what is necessary to preserve it for the sake of children and families in need. As Chairman of the Agriculture Subcommittee that oversees tobacco, I will also continue to do all that I can to support our farmers and our region’s economy. That commitment has not changed with this vote for our children.”

Let's hope that other NC reps follow suit.

meaning....Oh, shit, if I don't vote for this people are gonna remember it. I've been able to confuse them on the Agriculture thingy and keep that $70Mil in subsidies coming to the corporate farmers in my district....and I've got 'em confused as to why we can't get COOL done...and I can blame the Iraq stuff on the Senate...and they've forgotten I voted for torture and to deny habeas and so on...but there are actually 398,952 children under age 18 in North Carolina below the poverty level according to the 2004 Census....and I made a BIG mistake.

My very own personal ass may be at risk here....maybe I'll listen to my constituents just this once.

Now, let's get Etheridge on board. But, I am afraid he may be too well entrenched with the statements he has already made. Maybe we remind him he's actually supporting Bush (28%) if he votes against S-CHIP.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have read the posting carefully and it appears to me that KOS is endorsing Walter Jones.

I was very surprized to see that in that venue. Walter is about as conservative as they come, with the exception of his new found opposition to the war. He voted with the President on SCHP and that is about as Republican as one can get.

I considered weighing in on that posting, but, it is so out of place at DKOS that I feel it may have been a plant by the Walter Jones supporters to feel out the Blogs, so I decided not to dignify the posting by weighing into the fray there. If you really think I should post someting there, let me know. Perhaps my view on this posting is askewed and I should write something.
