Moore endorses Perdue

Thank you, Treasurer Moore.

Via email.

Dear Friend,

As you know, Bev Perdue and I had a tough, spirited primary campaign. And while the outcome was not what we had hoped for, one thing is clear: the differences between Bev Perdue and me pale in comparison to our differences with Pat McCrory.

Our country and our state are at a crossroads. This November's election will have a dramatic impact on how we meet the many challenges facing us. So many of the issues that Bev and I both believe in – economic opportunity for all North Carolina families ... world-class public schools…health care for every child in our state ... and securing our energy future – are at stake in this election.

That's why we all need to work together, as a unified Democratic Party, to elect Bev Perdue as our next governor. She'll continue to stand up for North Carolina's families and to make sure they have a voice in Raleigh.

Join me in supporting Bev Perdue. Visit www.BevPerdue.com to contribute and find out more about Bev's vision for North Carolina's future.

Sincerely,

Richard Moore

Classy move, honest email

Much appreciated.

Challenge Burr

I supported Moore in the primary. I wonder if he would consider running against Burr for the senate?

I'm a moderate Democrat.

Yes!!

thank you Treasurer Moore.

Here's hoping your time in public service is NOT ended. There are hard days and hard decisions ahead for our leaders in DC and Raleigh. People with your skills will be much needed in the halls of our governments -- at economic policy tables at all levels.

a little slow

to the draw richard......voted 4 him but this late ain't "classy".

Was it necessary

to say that Lt. Governor Bev Perdue's current status as the Democratic Party nominee for governor is "not what we had hoped for"?

I don't criticize Treasurer Moore for waiting 70 days past the primary to issue a call for voters to support the Democratic nominee. People should be free to make up their minds on their own schedule. Especially if Mr. Moore's goal was to give people time to forget the tone of the primary race, then maybe it was a good and worthy idea to wait this long.

But if that was the goal, then why open the statement by re-opening the wound?

As I, for one, respect the old saying that "discretion is the better part of valor," I'll say I'm glad the treasurer announced his support for the party's nominee.

We

In this context, I believe he's saying that what "we" hoped for is what his campaign had hoped for - a Moore victory. I don't think he's referring to We the People at all.

I'm willing to give the guy a break and am fully appreciative of his endorsement after that very rough primary.

The email was supposed to go to his supporters

James is correct. This wasn't intended as a slap.

When I read the statement without

the first paragraph, it reads as a much more powerful statement entirely, a full-throated, whole-hearted endorsement of the party nominee.

When I read the statement as it is, first paragraph intact, I get a very different feeling. Granted, my feelings are mine and perhaps I'm the only one wondering why the first paragraph was necessary. If so, please disregard the question.

Again, it was addressed to his SUPPORTERS

When you read the first paragraph, and you read it as a SUPPORTER of Moore's, it makes perfect sense. He is acknowledging that NO this is NOT what we wanted. As a SUPPORTER OF MOORE's, I want him to acknowledge that we were fighting for something else, and YET, he is also acknowledging that the choice between Perdue and McCrory is pretty clear cut. Repeat: We wanted HIM to be the nominee. So he is talking to people LIKE ME, who supported HIM. It isn't addressed to people who were already on board with Perdue.

That's why it has repeatedly been noted by the media who reported on this endorsement that the email was sent to HIS SUPPORTERS.

Whoa

The traditional media got something right?

Yeah.

I don't see what the big deal is. He could have done it with slightly better language. "We fought together for a better nc and we can't stop now!"

----insert witty remark here----coming soon----

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

True dat

And your suggested language was better. Somethin' tells me he didn't write it, and that perhaps the higher touch of grace that ought to have been there was harder to summon for a die-hard supporter.

And no, I didn't write it!
