More from the N&O on Aldona Vos and GOP cronyism

I am trying to figure out the Raleigh News and Observer stories in the Sunday edition. The first one I read was by Rob Christensen as he compares two members of Gov. McCrory's cabinet: Tony Tata of Transportation and Aldona Wos of Health and Human Services.

The second was a front page and very long story titled "Wos stirs things up at DHHS." If you find the headline confusing, just try reading the story by Lynn Bonner and Craig Jarvis.

This is the take on their N&O story from Progress NC as shared by Bob Geary:

Weird story in the N&O today about Aldona Wos, head of DHHS. The first section sounds like a press release written by far right strategists; the rest details the big fat mess she's made over at DHHS by completely upending the salary structure there and creating a whole new tier of highly-paid staffers and consultants, all of whom just happen to know her or be former GOP campaign workers.

Scariest sentence in the article: the news that our Governor considers her "a mentor." !! As a reminder of what she is actually like in person, please check out this video at :44 seconds in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egme7q1ubyY. That's Aldona Wos. For real. That's the person McCrory considers a mentor.

(In case you don't view the video, it is several seconds of Vos gushing over President George W. Bush, while acting as Ambassador to Estonia.)

Comments

Speaking of newspapers commenting on Aldona...

...the Henderson Dispatch has called for Aldona's resignation.

I'll assume that's the first of many.

Tribute to Aldona

This discussion, and the video posted, inspired us to a "tribute" to Aldona over at BackwardNC (September 22 entry).
