Multi-millionaire Pittenger says he'll donate government paycheck

It must be nice to be so rich:

“Any pension received from the state is given to charity,” Pittenger said in an email. “As you know I have stated that I will not take a federal pension and will donate my Congressional salary.” In a disclosure statement filed with Congress, he lists assets of between $25 million and $50 million in the Robert Pittenger Co., and a 2011 salary from the real estate investment company of between $1 million and $5 million.

And before you say it, I know there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of a Dem taking this seat. But I'd rather have a retired Sheriff in there than a land baron:

This just speaks volumes about the hypocritical attitude of Mr. Pittenger criticizing me and every other employee who’s received a pension,” Pendergraph said. “I’d love to contribute mine to charity, but I have to buy groceries and pay my house payment with mine.”

Note to Pittenger's staff:

If he tells you "everybody gets a heart plug", don't fall for it:

I'm curious...with Dems

I'm curious...with Dems having a 700,000 voter advantage, why is there no chance of retaining this office?

whoops, never mind

Not sure why I thought we were talking about the Lt. Governor's seat.

Probably because he ran

for the LG post a few years ago (2008).
