My apologies to Governor Easley
Easley steps up to the plate
Based on "no comments" earlier this week, I mistakenly assumed Governor Easley was on the wrong side of the community college issue. I was wrong, and I apologize for criticizing his silence. In an interview with Jack Betts today, Mr. Easley showed what leadership looks like:
“Here’s my position. The people we are talking about were brought here as babies and young children through no fault of their own. They distinguished themselves throughout our K-12 (public school) system. Now, I’m not willing to grind my heel in their faces and slam the door on them. The Community College System has to be open to them in order for them to be productive members of our society and help North Carolina and America compete in the world economy.”
Be sure to read the comments on Bett's blog. It'll give you a clear view of just how much courage it takes to push back against right-wing hate.

Those blog comments
are scary, scary stuff. Truly.
Bravo Easley!
Yep, the comments are typical of how the loudmouth bully's have been controlling the debate...I say it's time to start pushing back on this nasty rhetoric!
Sorry to interrupt this thread
but I don't have time to post this scary breaking news:
Police: Hostages taken at Clinton office
'He showed us a bomb,' says woman who was freed
Hostage situation

breaking news- hostages at Clinton Headquarters
my apologies for breaking into this thread..no time to post. See above
Scary...I fell sick..
Welcome to right wing world
where blowing stuff up is all the rage.
Scary indeed.
Bravo for Governor Easley.
Now, what about the Democrats running for office?

That's great news from Easley!
In fact, it's the best news I've heard all day.
I'm going on a nationally syndicated talk show at 3:50 to discuss this issue. It's called the Gregg Knapp Experience, and it might not be pretty. It's on in Wilmington or on radioamerica.org
a common sense proposal
Bravo to the governor for endorsing this non-ideological common sense step. Of course, "common sense" in this debate is seriously lacking, it appears. I wonder what Perdue and Moore have to say about it?
now I see what Perdue and Moore have said about it....
I haven't been very happy about having to choose b/w these two to begin with and now I am seriously considering voting for neither one.
Neither of them appear to have much of a spine. I especially blame "Madam Education" as she has styled herself. What a phony.
write to Moore and Perdue to praise Easley's position.
Shows that when Easley is not running, he can speak out for what he really thinks. And anyone running has to be afraid of showing any tolerance for the "other" --the "immigrant"
---Which is very confusing because I do not see NOT VOTING, as a solution. For example, not voting for a gubernatorial candidate, for Moore or Perdue? just means your not being counted. As much as i often feel torn, I want to be counted.
What if all BlueNC readers write to the gov candidates asking them to take courageous step of backing Easley's position?
Please do
I doubt anyone will flip-flop because that exacts too high a price, but perhaps they'll see opportunities in the future to take a more progressive stand.
Both campaigns keep an eye on what's being written here, but sending personal emails really matters.
Handy-dandy take action page.
Will make it easy.
