My CNN debut: Blog Buzzing the presidential race

This isn't exactly North Carolina news-related, but since I am a Tar Heel and BlueNC-er, I thought I'd let you all know about my appearance last night on CNN's Blog Buzz segment hosted by Tony Harris. The format pairs a progressive and conservative blogger to discuss the newsworthy political stories of the week.

I've done radio before, but not TV. I did it via satellite, driving over to very cold studio in Raleigh. I couldn't see Harris or my foil on the Right, Amanda Carpenter of TownHall.com. I had to deal with a very trebly, almost painful earpiece, but it was still fun. We discussed the Des Moines Register endorsements -- Hillary Clinton and John McCain, as well as the Boston Globe nods to Obama and McCain.

Joe Sudbay of Americablog was kind enough to snare the video; it's below the fold.

I haven't worked up the nerve to actually watch it, so feedback is appreciated. :)

No need to worry about my getting a swelled head from my four minutes of fame. I immediately drove home, took off the makeup, finished up the laundry, gave a snack to the dogs, and Kate and I watched The Incredibles with a bowl of popcorn.

Pam, you're awesome

The other woman has a voice like fingernails on a chalkboard. Yikes!

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Woooo Hoooo, Pam!!!

I think both of their voices are ridiculously "treble." It might not have been your earpiece. And your voice sounded wonderful. It's got beautiful tones.

And you sounded calm and rational compared to your counterpart's squeaky babbling.

My feedback: Enjoy yourself. Your comments were funny, good and you are definitely suited to this medium.

If you do watch it, have Kate with you and tell her that her assignment is to keep you from being overly critical. Most of the time people criticize themselves way way way too much. And then they forget to enjoy themselves the next time they do it.

I hope you get more gigs because you represented us Progressive lefties exactly how I'd want to be represented.

Well done, Pam!

I agree with Betsy, that other woman was irritating. Not just her repeated comments of what a "great pool of Republican candidates" but her demeanor in general.

Nice work!

Congrats --

I actually watched this on CNN. It was very nice to see a NC Progressive representing our Party. Maybe CNN will invite you back as a regular.

Well Done, Pam

Way to represent NC bloggers, Pam! You looked and sounded great. Here's hoping we'll see a lot more of your sensible self on the rarified air of CNN.

Pam, you were awesome.

Sensible, well-spoken, and intelligent. Exactly the kind of person who should be representing us lefty bloggers. I was proud to "know" (well, know of) you. You opponent seemed all, I don't know. High school-y.

Nice

I enjoyed your CNN appearance Pam. You sounded smart and informed. Made those entertainment politicos look like fools! :)

Finally got to see

Pam, you were great. The announcer guy was annoying and I guess his whole theme is trying to be "fun" or something? I don't watch TV and a slow internet usually keeps me off of video. You should be a regular, very professional.
