My email to Rep. Larry Kissell on HR 3962
In 2007, I was fortunate enough to become a 'reporter' by way of becoming a radio talk show host in Colorado. I began interviewing candidates in Colorado and had several candidates on my show who went on to successful victories. And, being an ex-Pat from North Carolina, I took time from my vacation and family visits in NC to seek out NC candidates like Larry Kissell.
During my interview with him, I was very impressed with his statements on supporting the working class families in NC-08 that had lost their factory jobs and were working 2 and 3 jobs just to make ends meet. So I am frankly stunned that he would be on the fence on the current health care bill, when these same families are the ones more likely not to have good health insurance.
the letter I wrote him follows:
Congressman Kissell,
I was there early and often supporting you and promoting your campaign to the Daily Kos and Blue NC community.
As you can see in this Video I have gone out of my way to help the Kissell campaign and was glad to see him elected.
Now, I want him to listen to the voters who want to have the Healthcare bill along with the Public Option passed.
As noted on Daily Kos, we bloggers contributed nearly Half a million dollars to get Larry in office.
We are hopeful that Larry remembers that when he is thinking about his re-election in 2010.
Not supporting the healthcare bill is a sure fire way to dry up the Netroots community's funding support.
Vote for the people that you represent and the ideals of the Netroots community and support HR 3962.
They are reading this letter and are watching to see your response.
Sincerely,
Wade Norris

Larry states that he is for helping working class families and the people of his district, let him know that healthcare bill 3962 is a a way to help the working class families of his district.
I would ask you to contact Rep. Kissell to vote the right way on this issue.

Thanks Wade
I don't know what good it will do, but you're right about making sure it is constituents who call him or email him. The sad thing is that in this district it seems a lot of people - even a lot of Democrats - are against this particular bill. I honestly believe some of that is because of confusion over the particulars. They have too much exposure to the chants of "socialism, socialism" and "Pelosicare" and not enough to more reasonable and truthful descriptions of the bill.
I don't think he's going to change his mind, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't hear from every constituent who supports this bill.
