For those that have not cast early ballots, you will have the opportunity to cast your ballot on May 8th. I am asking you to vote for me, Marlowe Foster for NC Labor Commissioner.
We all know the important role that the Labor Commissioner in North Carolina plays. Strictly enforcing workplace safety rules and regulations and being a strong partner with the community college system in North Carolina for the training and re-training of our workforce are at the top of my list of priorities. I think we can all agree that this focus has been severely lacking in the current department. But, the selection of our nominee for Labor Commissioner is about more than understanding the current problems in the Labor Department.
Democrats must have a nominee for Labor Commissioner they can be proud of. Democrats must have a candidate that can raise the resources to wage a successful fall campaign. Democrats must have a fresh face that can energize the base. Democrats must have a nominee that can compete across the state of North Carolina and drive vote up and down the ballot to help our President, our candidate for Governor and all other candidates get elected. We know President Obama only won this state by 14,000 votes in 2008. He pulled us across the finish line and now we have the responsibility to do the same for him. Our nominee must be able to tap into and capture the energy of the Obama re-elect effort.
2012 truly is a change election. The Democratic Party is a Party in transition. I believe my background and experience, the energy and resources I can bring to the fall campaign and my ability to appeal broadly to North Carolina voters sets me apart from my primary opponents. Unified behind the right nominee, we can defeat the incumbent Labor Commissioner in November. I am asking for your vote on May 8th for NC Labor Commissioner.
