My liberty is important! Yours? Not so much.
The Star has a great editorial on requiring photo ID to vote:
“What’s the harm in proving your citizenship?” say some of those advocating this unnecessary change. For one thing, in America we don’t have to carry around papers proving our citizenship, ready to flash them before any authority who may want to see them. North Carolina law currently does not require voters to present an ID, although if their eligibility is questioned they may eventually have to produce some proof of identity and place of residence.
For the life of me I can't understand why Tea Partiers, much less the bonafide Libertarians in their ranks, could envision this as anything other than a loss of freedom. Whatever validity their message had is lost under this hypocrisy.

Racism
hiding behind a facade of... what was their point again? Liberty? Security? Whatever... it's still racism, and the more often we call them on it the sooner they'll crawl back under the rotten log they came from.

"I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority." ~ Elwyn Brooks White
This is an attempt
to come at early voting too because people can vote anywhere and it is often more convenient to get folks to early voting sites, more conducive to their work schedules. If they have to show ids, there can be additional questioning of residence and verification and for renters and others, this can prove cumbersome and will be another hassle they will have to face to vote. It is racism and soci-economic discrimination.

I was told a few years ago
I was told a few years ago that something like 20% within the African American community did not have a driver's license. If you don't have one of those it becomes a pain to prove your identity.
I'm a moderate Democrat.
And
if you move because of subsidized housing or rental situations and your address changes and does not match what is on the "books" this will provide even more opportunity for harrasment. Voting is a right but this appears to be an attempt to make it cumbersome for those with less means which is targeted discrimination.
