N.C. Republican campaign rotgut

North Carolina Republican leaders demean the campaign heritage of Jesse Helms with that thin, inebriated wander of a television ad they plainly presume will volley his lightning.

The ad, which Republican presidential hopeful John McCain has asked them not to air, makes no scalpel cut to the organ in Southern minds where pockets of animating resentment sometimes lie concealed.

Instead it swings lazily at three different Democratic candidates, without quite yoking them all together with the minister whose censored speech predominates.

Then abruptly it ends with someone saying again that overused "too extreme for North Carolina" campaign code phrase, which always seemed to me to imply that we North Carolinians really cannot take care of ourselves in the big bad world.

The effect is somewhat less inspiring than I had hoped, since my taste in attack ads was shaped by the white hot malevolent focus of yesteryear. Whereas in its somewhat less than 30-second run time, this North Carolina Republican party campaign centerpiece can move a wide-awake Tar Heel from either major political party to heavy-lidded yawning.

Even one of dirt-road birth like myself, who became accustomed to and perhaps even addicted to boredom while growing up, cannot remain fully awake through repeated viewings.

Of course not. Good grief. We know that State Treasurer Richard Moore and Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue both want the Democratic gubernatorial nomination and, yawn, have both endorsed Sen. Barack Obama's bid to become the Democratic presidential nominee. We've seen, heard and read about the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. We've heard or read about Obama's speech addressing the related issues. We've all heard Sen. Hillary Clinton and others tell us at length what they would or would not have done had they been Obama./p>

So why, oh why, are we going over parts of this again?

There's the rub.

Because there are those who believe it serves the interests of the state Republican Party to get us cranked up about it all. If they can get us cranked up about it all.

The leaders of that party believe it is not insulting when at election time they try to get us drunk on vaguely racist high dudgeon, the way other political operators tried to get our ancestors drunk on campaign rotgut.

So that same, dirty old glass is on the table again.

Linda Daves

what a sad character. It's no wonder so many people are switching out of the party of greed these days.

She is Perfect

I think Linda Daves is the perfect figurehead to the NCGOP. She really represents it's core values. There is no deception and no attempt to hide her agenda. She makes it so clear what the purity-driven party truly holds dear (hint: it's not competence).

There are a few remaining moderate NC Republicans who are working within the party to bring it into the mainstream of the 21st century, and I respect them and their, so far, futile efforts.

Because as long as the NCGOP stays on message with Linda Daves, I think Democrats win.

I told yall my story about how she refused

I told yall my story about how she refused to give a young woman directions to our office right?

The NCGOP headquarters and the NCDP headquarters are about six blocks away from one another on the same street in Raleigh: Hillsborough Street. A good natured woman who was looking for yard signs went into the GOP HQ and told Daves, I know I'm not in the right place, but can you tell me where the NCDP HQ is? Daves grudgingly admitted that the office was on Hillsborough, but refused to point left or right to help the poor lady find her way. Talk about not giving someone the time of day.

McCain - The Third Bush Term

What a gal.

Man that's a creepy story.

Black Obama Panthers surround State GOP HQ's according to Katy

Katy conservative corner says they are flowing in tons of money from the Ad and the Black Panthers have surrounded GOP HQ's with M-1 Obama battle tanks.......

NOTE TO RNC - Stay Out of Our Business!
Linda Daves and the NC GOP have hit another one out of the park! The North Carolina Republican Party has posted an ad (below) on their website linking Barak Hussein Obama's extreme preacher to the Democrats running for NC Governor.

Meanwhile, John McCain and the Republican National Committee are calling for Daves and crew to cancel the ad. This blogger says "forget it gang". The RNC may be correct on some issues, but this is about North Carolina, and we don't play politically correct games down here.

Both Beverly Perdue and Richard Moore have stuck their fingers in the wind and "endorsed" the America-hating Presidential candidate.

Now, Linda Daves is making them pay. Watch the ad and see for yourself.

If you are a liberal and want to post comments calling for the age-old claim of "racism", don't even bother. Obama is multi-racial (as is your blogger's husband) and that old junk doesn't work anymore. Martin Luther King, Jr lead us past this more than forty years ago.

There is nothing wrong with Daves calling it as she sees it and she should not have to be defending these actions from attacks from the national party.

The phone is ringing off the hook at NC GOP headquarters and the money is said to be rolling in, but it's not enough. Our party needs more and they need YOUR contribution. Contribute online, here.

The state party is apparently receive threats, as the Raleigh Police Department has been guarding their building all day. The doors to the Hillsborough Street building are also locked.

God bless America.

This is making national news and KCC has never been more proud to be a North Carolina Republican than today.

Excuse my ignorance but what is KCC?

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

KCC

Katy's Conservative Corner. This is the "multi-racial" husband she keeps referring to in her "minority" credentials:

back in the day

Now let's take a trip in the time machine and let Jesse Helms show you how it's done in his 1990 "Hands" ad.

"You needed that job, and you were the best qualified, but they had to give it to a minority, because of a racial quota. Is that really fair? Harvey Gantt says it is. Gantt supports Ted Kennedy's racial quota law that makes the color of your skin more important than your qualifications. Your vote on this issue next Tuesday. For racial quotas, Harvey Gantt. Against racial quotas, Jesse Helms."

The faux-"outrage" by McCain about the "Extreme" ad allows him to distance himself from the race-baiting and smears, but the filth gets out there anyway. That's your preview playbook for the fall. Wash, rinse, repeat.

See my post: The NC GOP's anti-Obama color arousal ad.
