NC-6 Heats Up + Patty Gets Flanked On the Right
Hat tip to the Dome:
CQ Politics is reporting some action in NC-6.
Twelve-term Republican Rep. Howard Coble has drawn what appears to be a long-shot challenge from Democrat Johnny J. Carter. Carter’s FEC filing indicates he is general manager at Williams Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in Greensboro, N.C., and has seeded his campaign with $5,000. Coble, who had $626,000 in his campaign account as of July 1, has won his past two elections with more than 70 percent of the vote.
And just to sweeten the pot, I have it on very good authority (from the guy himself) that there will be yet another challenger - a seasoned North Carolina blogger - who will be announcing his candidacy in mid-November. Stay tuned.
Also exciting is this bit of news:
Bryan Greene is running as an independent against two-term Republican Rep. Patrick T. McHenry, who was re-elected with 60 percent of the vote last year in the heavily Republican-leaning district. The Constitution Party of North Carolina is backing Greene, who is strongly anti-abortion rights, supports gun owners’ rights, and wants to eventually abolish the income, estate and gift taxes.
Greene is a Marine Corps veteran who works in the Engineering Department at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C. Greene, whose eldest son is serving in Iraq, said he would seek to bring U.S. troops home and “end the unconstitutionally declared war in Iraq.”
Greene seems like a certifiable nutcase, who happens to be right about Bush's war in Iraq. Which means Patty will be taking shots from both sides in the 10th.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I promised him I wouldn't.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
OK.
I'll just keep bugging you.

Aha! "him" narrows the field
virtually in half! This is progress.
Next question: is he bigger than a breadbox? Scratch that. Tiny candidates freak me out, and I don't even want to know about them.
Does he own a breadbox? If so, was it a gift or did he...scratch that one too, due its pointlessness.
Okay, is the bread that he chooses to store in his breadbox whole grain, or some other form...*sigh*
I'll just wait to find out.
Does he resemble a large, hairy creature of mythology?

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Greene or his campaign manager has posted here
I can't find it but I posted about him at PGBB while you were away last month, A, and his campaign manager came by to comment .
Of course, being the snit that I am, I encouraged him to post here and I think he did. I'm sure he did. There was some conversation about him here. It was pretty funny if I recall.
Here's my PGBB post but the truly good stuff was here.
News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,

I'm glad he finally cleared up the rumor.
