NC Congressional Delegation Activity 1/26 - 1/30/09

This was a very busy week in Washington. Larry Kissell introduced his first amendment on the House floor and had it included with the House stimulus bill that went to the Senate. Kay Hagan spoke against the funding for SCHIP, but voted to provide health insurance for millions of low income children.

Committee and subcommittee meetings are picking up and it looks like the NRCC and the DCCC have already started the 2010 campaigns.

Sorry, I'm so late getting this posted

I was busy with other things this past weekend and wasn't able to compile it.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

Please contact Kay Hagan...

about her vote in SUPPORT of Senator (aka, Diaper Boy) Vitter's amendment explicitly forbidding ACORN from receiving any funds flowing from the Bail-out bill. Vitter was concerned about ACORN's supposed widespread fraud in registering voters last year - a charge completely debunked by looking at the facts. Another senator reminded Vitter that ACORN has been involved in laudable activities for years, e.g., helping re-build 3500 homes in LA after Katrina.

The amendment failed (thank god) but not with help from Kay. She needs to explain this. Helping Republicans mount their bogus attacks on the voting system and organizations that address the wide gaps in need in this country does not help us!
