NC GOP wags the dog on UI fraud
It's not a solution in search of a problem, it's a meme in search of credibility:
The N.C. House wants the public to submit evidence of unemployment fraud to bolster their efforts to reform the system. A task force formed by Speaker Thom Tillis is trying to identify fraud and abuse in the unemployment system is asking people to email comments to members.
I can read these guys like a comic book. This "outreach" effort is designed for one thing only: To give credence to manufactured/fictional/anonymous/hearsay "evidence" which will be presented in Committee, to make the (real) statistical evidence seem grossly underreported. The actors are there, the props are there, the only thing missing is a curtain.

What a wonderful opportunity to unleash an army of whistleblowers for employer malfeasance. Hey Mr. Tillis. Will guarantee immunity and continued employment to anyone who comes forward with an employer complaint?
Didn't think so.
Wrong side of the fence
For the life of me, I can't understand how Republicans can so blatantly serve their corporate masters, to the detriment of the vast majority of the population, and still garner enough votes to win any elected office, much less a majority of the seats in the General Assembly.
It's got to be the biggest con-game ever ran. You know, people make fun of gullible rubes back in the 19th Century who bought snake-oil off the back of a wagon, but at least they (most of them, anyway) had the excuse of a dismal education.
You forget they've only been
You forget they've only been a majority for one term. At some point, the other party had become so corrupt, self-serving, and oblivious to the public that the Republicans became the only other game in town. But that works both ways as Republicans will eventually discover.
I think they already have discovered
Republican's took a unique opportunity to lead with integrity and flushed it down the toilet in record time.
Listening to all of Art Pope's happy talk, I was half expecting them to actually be better than Democrats. Turns out, they're just another bunch of hypocrites, liars, and power-hungry assholes.
Yes, I'm talking about you, Thom Tillis.
Like Voter ID....
....this is a solution looking for a problem.
