Citing Elaine's commitment to "sound environmental policies," the League of Conservation Voters has announced their endorsement of our campaign.
From their announcement press release:
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Elaine Marshall for U.S. Senate because she understands that the policies needed to grow North Carolina’s economy and keep America’s competitive edge are the same policies that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb harmful carbon pollution,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Elaine Marshall will work in Congress to enact common-sense energy policies that create jobs in North Carolina while ensuring that America leads the 21st century’s clean energy economy.”
This is another big endorsement that adds to Elaine's growing coalition of voters in North Carolina.
Here are a few other stories surrounding the campaign you might have missed...
Elaine Marshall endorsed Elizabeth Warren to head Consumer Protection Agency:
Elizabeth is highly qualified, highly educated, and has dedicated her career to being an advocate on behalf of consumers and ordinary Americans. I strongly encourage President Obama to appoint her, and ask Senator Richard Burr to help confirm her.
Two new polls -- one an internal from our campaign -- show the race deadlocked, tied with Senator Burr.
Gasping for air, the NRSC and Burr have trotted out a new tactic: pretend Elaine is the incumbent:
"Help Defeat Elaine Marshall!" the National Republican Senatorial Committee's website read earlier in the day. "For nearly two years, America has suffered from the liberal Democrat's control of Washington and if Elaine Marshall is sent back to the Senate, we can only expect more of the same: increased spending and soaring national debt."
Marshall, the current North Carolina Secretary of State, has never served in the Senate before. So sending her "back" there would be, well, impossible.
Pretty shady, even for them.
Last, but not least, Elaine won the endorsement of Senator Dick Durbin who said this via email:
I want Elaine Marshall to join me in the Senate, but she won't make it without all our help. Facing an incumbent with a huge campaign war chest, Elaine is counting on grassroots financial support to remain competitive -- and win this November.
