NC-Sen: Marshall says Burr on Wrong Side of History

New-Headshot-05-10Breaking a few moments ago is news that the Senate Armed Services committee has passed an amendment that would significantly move the military closer toward repealing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall released the following statement where she rebuked her Republican opponent for voting against restoring equality in the military.

"Richard Burr is once again on the wrong side of history; he’s stuck in the past. Don't Ask Don't Tell' doesn't work for our national security or our values. We need to honor the commitment of ALL men and women who want to serve, and end this policy of discrimination. I'm pleased by the move today toward repealing DADT and I urge the Senate to repeal this policy by the end of the year."

An amendment to repeal the policy passed the Senate Armed Services Committee today in a vote of 16-12. Burr, not surprisingly, voted against it.

Elaine & Susan Harris

Mike,

Why post this and not responding behalf if your candidate to the questions that I posed under Jerimee's latest blog?

Please let us know if Elaine asked Susan Harris for an endorsement before Jerimee & your campaign manager, AJ Carillo, debased her on Twitter. It's a simple question. Your silence speaks volumes.

Besides, the minute I hit "post," you will get an email alerting you to my comment. No more dodging. Why is Elaine running a shadow syndicate set to debase Cal Cunningham, even though she courts the same endorsements that her present and former staff abhor?

Thanks for helping out.

Thanks for saying this

Don't Ask Don't Tell' doesn't work for our national security or our values.

It can't be said enough. It is important for leaders to keep helping the tone of the debate by making their stances for equality loud, clear, and often repeated.
