Dear Friends, Business Leaders and Interested Parties:

That's how the latest chapter in the Art Pope Electioneering Saga (APES) unfolded this week when Richard Morgan sent at letter out asking for help in creating the Richard Morgan Legal Expense Trust. The Pilot covered the story last night.

In the letter, Morgan accused Pope of using his money to control the General Assembly. He called the Republican Legislative Majority a "front" that Pope used to affect the last two elections.

"His clear and specific purpose has been to try to destroy my reputation," Morgan wrote, "along with the good names of other fine North Carolinians who serve with me in the North Carolina House of Representatives."

Morgan challenged Pope's contributions to the Republican Legislative Majority after the primary. The state Board of Elections ruled in August that nothing illegal took place. Now Morgan is looking for help in paying for the expenses.

Morgan brought up the name of Rep. Stephen LaRoque, whom Pope sued for libel after LaRoque accused Pope of "buying" seats.

Morgan wrote: "Pope's strategy is to use his corporate millions to control members of the North Carolina General Assembly by making some beholden to him and punishing others who dare to disagree with him. He said that Pope is pulling the strings of the General Assembly. "Pope's approach could set our state back 50 years," he said.

Morgan is asking people to join the fight, by contributing to the Richard Morgan Legal Expense Trust. "Enough is enough," Morgan wrote. "I am trying to do something about this menace."

Pope said Tuesday that Morgan's time is over.

"Richard Morgan does not seem to realize that he lost the election, and he lost his complaint before the state Board of Elections," Pope said. When asked to respond to Morgan's charges that he is trying to manipulate the legislature, Pope said that he was just a Republican who wanted to see a Republican majority. He said he is not going to harm the integrity of the General Assembly.

"That's silly and false," Pope said.

That's rich coming from an extremist government-hater who has already harmed the integrity of the General Assembly.

But the truth is, Art Pope is the one who doesn't realize he lost the election - back in 1992 when the people of North Carolina flat-out rejected him for Lieutenant Governor. According to the N&O he was a "plodding campaigner" . . . but from my own experience, he was a tedious automaton who couldn't connect with another human being if they were both wrapped in Velcro.

This story is going to just get sadder and sicker, contaminating everyone it touches. Because that's what happens when the people who have more money than sense are involved.

wait

Pope said that he was just a Republican who wanted to see a Republican majority.

Is no one else going to call him on the fact that ALL of his money was spent defeating Republicans? Does no one ask any questions anymore?

MSM

Good point, Blue South. The stenographers in the Main Stream Media are buddy-buddy with all the Puppets. They don't ask questions because they've been trained not to. Pretty sad all around.

LTE from Art Pope in today's Pilot

Today a letter to the editor appears in the Pilot Newspaper from the Puppetmaster. He must be really feeling his investments slipping away to be this desperate.

First he accuses them of conducting a smear campaign for reporting facts about college kids brought in and housed temporarily, then registering to vote (illegal and Boylan claims he didn't know because it's a new law, just passed in January.) Next, he literally brags about the SBOE giving him a free pass on his 4999 activity. Then he rants about the Pilot not calling him and letting him set their record straight. This is how he ends his letter.

I do hope that Joe Boylan and Republican candidates across the state win their elections. The real scandal is the rampant political corruption and failed policies of Speaker Jim Black and the Democratic politicians, including leaving the state with another billion-dollar deficit for next year. Boylan and a Republican majority can change this, if voters focus on the real issues, rather than on The Pilot's rumors and innuendoes.

You know what Puppetmaster, I agree with you on one thing, Jim Black must go!

"sort of" covers the story too. I guess the Puppetmaster will be writing his buddies there too, thanking them for their favorable reportage.

Hey, did you catch this about Brad Miller

in that story you linked A?

A Miller endorsement

The Muslim American Public Affairs Council plans to endorse Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller on Saturday, in part because of his Republican challenger, Vernon Robinson.

"In light of of the disgraceful behavior of your opponent and his frenzied attacks on yourself, your family and your faith as well as his demonization of the Hispanic/Latino community, we no longer need to analyze and discuss his vicious diatribe," wrote Khodr Zaarour, the group's political director.

Robinson suggested that the Miller endorsement was connected to Robinson's support for giving intelligence agencies greater surveillance powers.

"During the debate," Robinson said, "I hammered away at Congressman Miller's votes to cut off funding for intelligence agency surveillance programs. Perhaps that was considered by the group when it decided to endorse him."

The group said there are 20,000 Muslim voters in the Triangle.

Sure would be nice if those 20K muslim voters GOTV for Miller!

Welcome George Pence, thanks for accepting the invitation

I have used some letters to editors you have written in some of my articles. So glad you have come by to check us out!

My question is this...

...do you really think the Puppetmaster wrote the letter to the Pilot himself? Did he have another puppet do it for him, and just sign his name?

Probably like most stinkin rich folk

he had someone draft it and he read it (possibly made corrections based on committee) and signed it.
