Not so fast, Liddy

Now that the wheels have been completely blown off Republicans' Insane War in Iraq, and now that public opinion has pegged the bottom of the barrel in judging this administration and it's chickenhawk cheerleaders, guess who's all of a sudden trying to distance herself from the Bushbatros hanging around her neck?

Why Liddy Dole, of course

Even Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.), a mainstream conservative who has never publicly strayed from the administration's position on Iraq, made it clear that she would now support "what some have called action-forcing measures."

"The difficulty of the current American and Iraqi situation is rooted in large part in the Bush administration's substantial failure to understand the full implications of our military invasion and the litany of mistakes made at the outset of the war," Dole said.

With not much respect, I feel obliged to offer my own commentary on the Senior Senator's newfound insight:

Not so freakin' fast, Senator Dole.

Anybody with half a brain (which obviously doesn't include Liddy) knows this war was a disaster from the get-go. The only thing that's changed that would cause Liddy to start backpedaling is the fact that she has just over a year before the voters of North Carolina judge her performance over the past five years.

November 3, 2006

"For a person to think that voting for a Democrat for the Senate is going to fix the situation in Iraq makes no sense," Dole told CNN's Soledad O'Brien on 'American Morning.' "That's just not the case. Let me point out here, too, that for us to leave -- and it seems that Democrats are saying they're satisfied or content with losing, if we were to withdrawal from Iraq at this point, there's no question that this would leave a void there, a breeding ground for attacking the United States again."

What's changed, Liddy? Do tell.

November 16, 2005

Let me repeat, Iraq is the central battleground in the War on Terror. And yet despite the evident progress, some want to cut and run. They claim that our troops have simply done all that they can do, and that the United States should set arbitrary timelines for withdrawing our forces. Mr. President, I strongly disagree. Setting such a timeline would only embolden the terrorists and send the message that the United States has lost its resolve in the War on Terror. This is the wrong message. Any timeline for withdrawal must be driven by success - not artificially tied to a calendar.

What's changed, Liddy? Is that rotten Bush carcass hanging around your neck starting to get a little stinky? Or do you really hate America now that you're willing to send the wrong message to the terrists?

You can't have it both ways, Liddy Dole. No matter how scared you are.

Liddy Dole, as many of her Republican friends, is a politician.

Did you expect less of her? A good politician can jump ship with the best of them.

Could it be

she's been informed by her foreign ambassadors in the state she represents that she could face a real American patriot and veteran who actually has vibrant roots and commitment to North Carolinians?

Who is representing North Carolina?

If Elizabeth Dole is senile, as has been rumored, then who is running our Senate seat? Do you ever wonder about that?

It must have been a real shock to Senator Dole

when she pulled her head out of her ass long enough to see that most of her constituents oppose this war and want to bring our troops home. I wouldn't count on her doing anything actually meaningful. Sigh. After a few sips of kool-aid her head likely went right back where it has been for years.

Where’s Liddy?

Not only is it hard to find Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina, it’s hard to determine where she stands on the issues.

According to the Washington Post on Wednesday, Dole blames the current situation in Iraq on the Bush administration’s floundering and flawed policies.

"The difficulty of the current American and Iraqi situation is rooted in large part in the Bush administration's substantial failure to understand the full implications of our military invasion and the litany of mistakes made at the outset of the war," Dole said.

Her words say "yes", but her votes say "no".

She voted NO to:
* Iraq Troop Reduction
* Restrictions on troop deployment
* Creating a timeline to withdrawing the troops

In February, Dole said "[T]he bottom line is I am supporting the president’s plan…" [Winston-Salem Journal, 2/3/2007]

Dole votes with Republicans and Bush Administration 91 percent of the time.

If you see Elizabeth Dole, ask her if she was for President Bush before she was against him?

Liddy had to "stand down while the voters stand up"!

She is facing an "upperdown vote"! "The way forward" is looking bleak! To "stay the course" will cause her lost votes. The people of North Carolina are about to bring a little "shock and awe" into her world! Liddy may be in her "last throes" so to speak! She is getting "desperate"! North Carolinians want to send her packing and proclaim "Mission Accomplished"! Her "Return on Success" to Kansas, or DC or wherever the hell she is from will be successful once we've voted her sorry butt out of office.

Who said Republican Slogan-Mantra-Babble couldn't be fun?
