Its a choice not to use condoms, but they are gonna help you make the right choice by ensuring you don't know what a condom is and can't buy one.
Its a choice to keep the baby, but they are gonna help you make the right choice by putting you in jail if you decide not to keep it.
Its like having a choice, but without the headache caused by having to make a decision.

I don't get that comment. I don't know about anyone else but, as a 17 year old, I've known what condoms are and where to get them from for quite a while and no one ever had to "teach" me. Being in a religious family doesnt prevent you from gaining any knowledge of condoms.
That said, I'm not against teaching about it in schools. I just think it's a bit of a stretch to say that a 17 year old wouldn't know what a condom is.

I am glad you have educated yourself about the topic. However, there are many within the political circles that Sarah Palin is a part of who would like to outlaw all contraceptives. In fact, earlier this year John McCain said he didn't know if condoms stopped HIV. Do you really think either of them would be happy to know that you know what a condom is?

It wouldn't really matter if they're happy about it or not. There's a pretty large change between my generation and theirs in terms of knowledge about this subject, in my opinion. Maybe it's different in Alaska but I can't imagine anyone getting to age 17 and being protected from that knowledge unless, perhaps, they're homeschooled.

Or that Bristol gets to choose whether to marry him?
I really hope for the sake of both teens that this "they're gettng married" b.s. will fall by the wayside after the election. Talk about compounding a problem.

I have good friends in Alaska and the state is abuzz with this nasty gossip. But I shouldn't be repeating it.
But "leaving the girl out of it" is bullshit. She's in it up to her elbows because her mother, father, Grampy McSame and the entire Republican party are using her to further their holier-than-thou agenda.

With both of you. She shouldn't be the center of a scandal at 17, but that isn't the Democrats' fault, it is the fault of her parents for putting her into the middle of it.
I don't think that Senator McCain doesn't care what's going on in the lives of Americans, I just think he doesn't know.

I don't know how to do anything but link to their page where you can press the listen button for this morning's show. (there is a fast forward but I don't know how to get it to those times) There were two very interesting moments, first at 10 minutes in, listen to an interview of people coming out of the convention after McCain's speech. They are all comparing him to Palin. One woman even goes so far as to say, "She's going to be our next President!" She even fawns that McCain has found their next Reagan and its not McCain...its Palin.
Then at 12 minuets in is a VERY remarkable interview with Trent Lott who says things like, "In the last 8 years we lost it..." and "We made the mistakes but its not the Democrats that will fix it, they will only compound the problems....McCain does!" "We're Republicans, we're sinners but we'll repent, we'll even follow our nemesis, John McCain!"
If anyone knows how to capture these sound bites could you post them here?
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
this would be funny! Talk about "using" the family and strumming the emotional heart strings to get sympathy. Linking your son's departure to 9-11 is amazing, especially if you want me to believe you don't know that it's actually a 12 September deployment. The 12th just doesn't have the same emotional quality I guess. (The New York Daily News confirmed the 12th date)
So if it helps to "shade" the truth in order to get votes, then we can expect a lot more in the next two months, but don't dare make her family part of this election!.
The list is growing on the not so true statements, but do her supporters really care?
Supporting Choice is not the same as being pro-choice.
And there my friends, you have it. Complete hypocrisy.

This was so funny it turned my day around
Yesterday was such a rotten, lousy, crummy day, that who'd a thunk it could be turned around after 11 pm?
Both the Daily Show and Colbert were hilarious. In particular, if you can find it, Colbert's take on Guliani's ridiculing of community service.
God these shows are worth the price of cable. They have to be, since they're the only thing I watch anymore.
Does anybody believes Levi has a choice to marry this gal?

A friend of a friend in Alaska
was in the same high school as Bristol Palin. Sounds like the poor kid is just another pawn in John McSame's ego trip.
(Edited to remove unseemly gossip. Sorry about that.)

That's nasty gossip about a girl about the same age as
your own daughter, James. I don't like the family's lifestyle choices either, but leave the girl out of it.
You're right

I agree.

but Democrats know better than to gossip about 17 year olds
who, by virtue of a lack of sufficient education, find themselves pregnant.
Seriously. There is enough to feed off of in this without going after the pregnant teen.
Stick to the high road on this
... you can appreciate the irony of the situation, but please don't repeat the rumors.
That's all I'm saying.
She is - after all - still a child. Say anything you want about her mother, or her father, or her Granddaddy McCain.
A pregnant teen has enough troubles - she doesn't need internet curmudgeons - loveable as they may be - on their case.
Did anyone catch the BBC Newshour this A.M.?
