Earlier, I happened to look at C-Span for a while, and they had a presentation of results from some polling that was done. I missed who the sponsors were, but can imagine. They mentioned how a large portion of people don't want to be forced to get health insurance, leaving one to believe it's not all that important to the ordinary families. Of course, I can imagine they didn't qualify the question with something like, "what if single-payer or a public option was included?" Of course most people don't want to be forced to take a plan from Blue Cross or any of the other insurance companies that are being administered by some bean-counting parasites. I wonder if anyone would ever be able to figure how much money these insurance companies are spending for the misinformation and the congressional bribes? And then will need to do a hefty rate increase to cover these expenses, and the increase in bonuses sure to follow. Free enterprise is a wonderful thing!
Jane and I are hosting our umpteenth annual July 4th part this Saturday from 4 to 7. If you're reading this, you're invited.
We'll have barbecue and the basics, and are asking people to bring a side dish or dessert. And whatever booze you want. We'll have plenty of lemonade and sweet tea. Also, bring your bathing suits too ... the lake is spectacular this summer.
Hope you'll come ... even if it's only to pop in to say hi. Our address is 451 Lakeshore Lane, Chapel Hill.

I heard her on the radio today talking about the media's influence over adolescent sexual behavior.
Very interesting stuff, and she spoke so well I found myself wondering if she'd ever worked in broadcasting. I know she's given zillions of lectures, but has she ever done tv or radio as a job, as opposed to the occasional interview?
She hasn't been involved in tv or radio as a job ... just print journalism ... but she's given the pitch about adolescents and the media a million times, to classes, to parents, to Congress, to NIH, and more. I tell her you thought she did a good job!

My sister's having a thing at Belew's Lake Saturday afternoon, and it looks like I'm driving my mom and my BIL's mom out there. If they get tired early and want to come home, I might be able to hit Chapel Hill late afternoon.
But if they get into the wine and the cards, all bets are off. ;)
Imagine that some people want this nonsense taught in schools
Mind-boggling.
The science of misinformation....
