I mean, it's going to be destroyed in the House, but perhaps the two houses can think about trading bills.

about an hour and a half at the legislature tonight. I went with my friend who was there representing Student Government. There were probably a good 20-30 (at least) members of Student Governments from various colleges in the university system there to support a bill that would give the student who is a member of the UNC Board of Governors the ability to vote instead of just being able to sit in on meetings.
The bill was passed, the 4th time it has been passed apparently, hopefully this time it wont be killed in the senate.
It was fun being there, first time I had sat in on a session. Rep Allred thoroughly embarrassed himself. Its always fun to see someone make a speech and then get laughed at by his fellow legislators and watch only 6 other people vote for his amendment.
I hear that the Senate commerce committee met this morning to a full house of interested parties and media. Conflicts with another insurance meeting in the House prevented a vote in commerce.
The full Senate convenes @ 4:00 and there is a chance that the committee will again be called together either shortly before or soon after session.

Kentucky had their primary for Governor today. Ernie Fletcher, the criminal incumbent got over 50% of the Republican vote against former congresswomen (and clean candidate) Anne Northrup.
On the Democratic side, good guy Beshear is over the 40% threshold to avoid a runoff, and the second place person, DLC candidate Lunsford has said she wont ask for a runoff if one is needed.

Rest easy America we now know the reason to stay in Iraq. Min. Wage, Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief, Children's health care, and agricultural assistance. So all the mothers who have lost their son's in this can sleep well at night knowing their son's life was not wasted. I hope there is a hot place in H-ll for all people that make deals like this one.
