OUCH!!!! Charlotte Observer rips "Do Nothing Dick"
Hello again to all my BlueNC friends. Hope y'all been doing great, and enjoying some of the nice weather we had earlier this week.
I wanted to make sure everyone got to check out this great editorial today in the Charlotte Observer.
"When the senator got a burr under his saddle"
Curiously, Burr prefaced his remarks by saying he had no personal objection to the hearing going on. That's ridiculous. It was his objection that halted the hearing.
Oh wait, but there's more:
We'd wager that if Burr had served in the military, he'd at least have thought twice about cancelling a session in which such brass as Navy Adm. Robert Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii; Air Force Gen. Kevin Chilton, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command; and Army Gen. Walter Sharpe, commander of the U.S. forces in Korea, had long been scheduled to testify. That's the sort of thing that could get a G.I. permanent duty peeling potatoes in a mess hall in a cold, windy corner of a forgotten camp somewhere.
And then the editorial staff picks Burr up off the mat, dusts him off, and then winds up for a T.K.O.:
But in the meantime, Sen. Richard Burr has just ratcheted up the incivility and silliness that has taken hold in Washington among both parties. He has reinforced the impression that politicians are concerned not about getting things done, but about getting back at one another - and getting back in power.
Here's what Cal Cunningham had to say today in reponse to Burr's reckless obstructionism:
Richard Burr’s decision to hold up a hearing with high-ranking military leaders, simply because one of his Republican friends objected to it, is totally inexcusable. This is the latest example of Burr prioritizing partisanship and scoring political points ahead of the people he was elected to represent. Governing by gridlock will do nothing to help North Carolinians address the many issues our state faces and it is time to elect new leadership that will put people first
Nice reponse Cal! We need a veteran and stong voice like you to replace the "do nothing" waste of space we have in Burr.
I'm proud to be volunteering for Cal for reasons like this.

Hey Richie
