Our better angels

As long as we try to make up in anger what we lack in reason, we will have a political journey as self-defeating as the sailor who puts to sea in a storm.

Let's pray that the Tucson violence will help us all to "find the better angels of our nature" as we exercise our rights as free citizens of this great country.

This whole episode has given me pause on many fronts. As I look back over my frustrations and upsets about what our species is doing to this amazing world, I see that I have always had a hard time choosing between sadness and anger. What a miserable choice.

If anybody has some better angels, please send them my way.
