Our Congressman Coble?

Howard Coble Caught Reading

That’s what he tells us, but let’s look at his recent voting record and see if Mr. Coble really has his constituents best interest at heart.

On January 10th, the House voted on H.R.2, The Fair Minimum Wage Act that raises the federal minimum wage to $7.25 hr from the current $5.15 hr. over 26 months. It was passed 315 to 116 with Mr. Coble in the “nay” column.

January 12th was the vote on the Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2007, the bill passed 255 to 170, Mr. Coble voted AGAINST !

January 17th, the House voted on the College Student Loan Relief Act which reduces the current interest rate of 6.80% to 3.40% over 5 years. The bill passed 356 to 71, again Mr. Coble voted against this bill

Finally, on January 18th, The House voted on the Clean Energy Act of 2007. This bill introduced by the West Virginia Dem, Nick Rahall had 198 co-sponsors. In addition to ending subsidies for Big Oil, this levies heavy taxes on the oil companies for polluting the waters while pumping and also for price spikes without good cause. The bill passed 264 to 163 ”Our Congressman Coble” voted against it!

In the recent election cycle, Mr. Coble sold himself to Big Oil for as little as $6,000.00, but since 1989 he has received $151,510.00 from Energy and Natural Resource PACS and $210,527.00 from Pharmecueticals and Health Product PACS.

Mr. Coble keeps telling us that he is "Our" Congressman, but his votes tell us that he belongs to the PAC's that bought him.

He voted AGAINST the horse protection act which would have prevented foodmakers from sneaking horsemeat into the American food chain, among other things.

What, you don't like surprises?

As in "surprise! It's horse!"

well...i guess it's better than....SURPRISE

it's dog! YUCK! Storm, can you get me more info on that or steer me in that direction? Need to make the good citizens of Moore aware of how "Our" Congressman looks out for his constituents!

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Our Congressman

is overdue for retirement. He signed the Contract on America. One of the provisions of that "Contract" was the Citizen Legislature Act.

An amendment to the Constitution that would have imposed 12-year term limits on members of the US Congress (i.e. six terms for Representatives, two terms for Senators). H.J.Res.73[7] rejected by the US House 227-204 (a constitutional amendment requires a two-thirds majority, not a simple majority), 3/29/95; RC #277.

Coble signed this contract, and agreed to only serve 6 terms. He has now served 12. Even if we counted only from the date of the Contract (1994), he should have retired this past year.

The 6th District needs the NC Dem Party to help us draft a strong candidate who can win in this district. The right candidate, with the right organization behind him (or her!) could help protect and increase NC's Democratic Majority in the Congressional Delegation.
