Part II: Experience

Hello friends.

We just released the second part of our "Meet Elaine" series, and I wanted to make sure you got a chance to see it. It's called "Experience" and it talks about who I am, what I've done, and what kind of Senator I'll be for the people of North Carolina.

Thanks for your friendship and support.

We need to increase the name recognition of all the dems if we want to win

And add to that serving as a

And add to that serving as a state senator and winning statewide elections four times and you've got a strong argument for why Elaine should be our next US Senator. Don't discount experience.

I'm a moderate Democrat.

Great lady, no doubt

But when you discount "electability", we lose.

Defeating Burr is paramount. That is the quest, regardless.

I don't know fox, I think

I don't know fox, I think Elaine is the most electable of the three running. People trust her and she has done an outstanding job as Sec. of State. I don't see Cunningham as being that strong without a popular president running in the same cycle. I also fear that we will get repeated references to Edwards from the other side should he be the pick. If I were Burr's adviser I would have adds with their two pictures side by side with a voice over saying something to the effect of, "You remember the last time we elected a good looking unknown candidate to the Senate. Let's don't make the same mistake twice." I think Elaine would be a much easier sell to the voters and she would be much harder for Burr to attack.

I don't buy it

I don't the GOP is going to run ads attacking any candidate for being good looking, nor do I think we should make important voting decisions on looks.

I'm offended by the assumption

...that Cal is good-looking.

Or that John Edwards was either.

Not that Lauch Faircloth was a real looker in my book.

Maybe Uncle Festzer thought Faircloth was hot, but not me.

Are we talking "sexy Sarah Palin" politics again?

We shouldn't

but my aunt will

I guess I wasn't very clear

I guess I wasn't very clear in what I was saying. I don't think the GOP would literally say "good looking guy" but they would attempt to draw a parallel with Edwards. The implication or flat out attack would be that we elected someone we had little knowledge of other than the campaign presentation and he turned out to be overly ambitious, not what he appeared and generally a flop. Don't make the same mistake again. It's an easy attack regardless of how different the two men are on a superficial level they are easy to lump together and believe me the people that decide this election are not going to be studying the candidates or the issues.

I'm a moderate Democrat.

agree completely

she has reasoned, original ideas on the issues, a track record of making tangible, noticeable improvements in the lives of citizens, and she's way more likeable than Sen. Burr, whose directing his wife to max out her ATM withdrawals in case the banks collapsed has never left me.

Nor should it leave you

How people respond under pressure is a pure sign of their core being. Bank Run Burr's response was that of a self-absorbed coward whose personal interests took charge, while his public actions serve only to worsen the problems we've been facing.

Thanks for the reminder of what an irresponsible obstructionist he is.

Nice work

Sorry I wasn't able to comment sooner ... I've been out of town for several days. This is good stuff, both informative and reassuring. Thanks for posting it here, Secretary Marshall.
