Perdue is okay by me
I'm no big fan of Democrats these days, but the Governor of North Carolina is doing a pretty good job. Even though Rob Christensen might like to convince you otherwise.
Could she be smoother in getting things done? Of course. Is she tone-deaf on certain issues? You bet. Is she often late to the party? Yes. But at least she often gets there.
Perdue's willingness to stand for modest tax increases took courage, and it was the right thing to do. I stand with her. Republicans will criticize no matter what she does, so there's no point even worrying what they think. Democrats should give her the benefit of the doubt, but remember this is North Carolina. We have an extreme right wing party and a moderate right wing party, both butt-deep in special interests.
I'm happier with Governor Perdue than I thought I'd be, though not as happy as I'd like to be. I'll settle for that right now.
Don't let 'em get you down, Bev. And just remember, it could be a whole lot worse.

Signing the Bullying Bill & Healthy Youth Act
She has apparently indicated she will sign them both... so far Perdue is okay by me too.
Rob Christensen criticizing NC Democrats?!
Did the sun rise today?
Is the sky blue?
Do we have a Governor that was an Appropriations Committee Co-Chair in the legislature?
I'm rather happy with the Perdue Governorship at this point
myself, mostly due to the fact that Bev Perdue has continued to be a strong and unwavering leader and that she is able to actually listen to fact vs. fiction and come up with a factual idea in most cases. The ability to listen has also been quite refreshing considering the Governor seems to be able to put aside her previous decisions on issues and change her mind when two facts intercede and one has to be better than the other for the people of North Carolina.
Would that a certain Senator Hagan take this approach and put the people ahead of the fiction, no matter how much she thinks she is a financial wizard! Senator Hagan reminds me of the politician that JUST KNOWS she knows more that you do, because. Governor Perdue seems to be smart enough to read between the lines, leave her ego at home and do what is best for her constituants. I like that a lot.
North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!
Perdue has been a pleasant surprise
She has performed better than I thought she would, bringing openness to state government, taking a bit of the politics out of the NCDOT, and standing up for her principles. Considering the mess she inherited, she's doing well.
Kay Hagan, on the other hand, is really starting to be a disappointment. Her opposition to a public insurance plan is inexcusable.
The jury is still out for me
for the most part, but I don't feel at all negative...just holding off. I'm not completely pleased, but not completely displeased....which actually isn't bad since I started out not really liking her at all.

I understand
and have similar sentiments. This post is focused on what she's actually done lately, which has been better than I expected. Her media coverage, I believe, is heavily and negatively influenced by the "experts" at the Show, who are all BFF with many in the Capital Press Corps.
Yeah...I've pretty much stopped believing anything I read
from the Capital Press Club.
I wasn't happy when she raided the lottery funds, etc. but she's facing extraordinary circumstances, so I can excuse that and don't believe she will make a habit out of it. Even if I am luke warm you know how much I disliked her in the primary. If I'm luke warm, then you know that is a huge net positive. :D

Rob's article fails in so many ways
He wants to talk about her budget woes, but doesn't speak to her pedigree in such matters.
Rob quotes "Not Gay" Tom Fetzer calling the sitting Governor who beat Pat McCrory politically tone-deaf with no proof.
Ummmm....no. Your candidates lost in the primary AND the general, Uncle Festzer.
Even JFL Master Hood refutes Uncle Festzer's generic quote opportunity bestowed by Christensen.
But then, to quote Hood and not ask about Hood's paragon of economic wonderment and general golden boy SC Gov. Mark Sanford?
Really? Refusing stimulus money AND using the taxpayer's money to visit your Argentine mistress?
Or at least how GOP-lead SC's unemployment rate is consistently higher than Dem-run NC's rate? Compare/contrast?
But, eh. Nothing.
Up next week from Christensen: How Joe Hackney kills baby kittens and plays with matches on the Speaker's dais. Quotes from Skip Stam and Thom Tillis.

Thanks for the kind words - but what Governor Perdue really needs right now is more people to join the chorus proclaiming that the legislature must protect public education in the state budget!
We need you to make phone calls and send emails to your legislators. Tell them to make the tough choices, the hard cuts and raise the revenue necessary to protect the classrooms!
