Photos from Al Swanstrom Canvass

Some photos from Al Swanstrom's canvass yesterday:

Dustin Ingalls did a great job of organizing the canvass. The turnout was high as the temperature: Cary councilman Irv Portman, Greer Beaty, Ed Ridpath, and David Price (among others) all showed up to support Al by knocking on doors. Members of the Wake Young Democrats showed up in large numbers as well.

The response we got on the doors was really incredible, particularly when you consider we were talking with swing voters. While many people are just now learning about Al's candidacy, the incumbent Nelson Dollar is virtually unknown outside radical Republican circles. One man told me that he doesn't know who his representative is, but he knows that Jennifer Weiss (from a neighboring district) gets the job done, so he had "adopted" her as his representative.

People seem excited about getting some representation in Raleigh, and want solutions to health care, education, and infrastructure challenges. Swanstrom has been an inventor and innovator for IBM, so there's every reason to believe that he deliver forward thinking reforms for his neighborhood.

As a side note, Cary got a new Democratic city council and mayor last November, and I had a few people think at first that I was talking about those offices. These folks went out of their way to inform me that they like their new city council, and that things are moving in a better direction.

Amazing turnout, Jerimee

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Thanks for the post, Jerimee. You forgot to mention that you and Daniel won our most-doors-knocked and most-yard-sign-commitment awards.
