Planned Parenthood's One Million Strong to turnout 15,000 voters in NC
More than likely you've not heard of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund's (the political arm of PP) One Million Strong Campaign. That will soon change. Local PP affiliates are signing up to join their national organization's One Million Strong campaign with their own commitments to bring out voters to the polls this November.
In North Carolina, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central NC recently launched their local, grassroots initiative for One Million Strong with a pledge to bring 15,000 voters out in 2008.
At this point you might be asking yourself: Who are these voters and what, exactly, will they be voting for as part of One Million Strong?
These are the voters that we all know make up the large, but too often silent, majority in North Carolina. These are the voters that believe in preventing unintended pregnancies with affordable health care, access to birth control, and the restoration of real, comprehensive sex ed to our schools.
Even before the PP Action Fund of Central NC launched their local efforts, 3,000 people had already signed-on and made the commitment to vote for lawmakers who care deeply about women's health and who will make protecting access to reproductive health care and increasing education top priorities in 2008.
We can't let a small but vocal minority lead our elected officials to believe that North Carolinians want to maintain the status quo on these issues and we certainly can't let them think that we'll simply look the other way as they chip away at our rights. I'm number 3,001 of North Carolina's 15,000. Will you be next?

WOMEN'S RIGHTS ARE FUNDAMENTAL
Get it Right. . .This election is
about ensuring that women's rights to
reproductive freedom is protected. This is
not just a women's issue it is a family
health issue. We can not take this most
fundamental right for granted. Roe vs.
Wade will be overturned if we allow McCain
to be elected. Once Roe vs. Wade is
overturned, the Republicans will stop at
nothing to reverse everything accomplished
from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to the
Americans With Disabilities Act.
The 2008 Election is about "Getting It
Right". Of course, I am signing on.
I'm in.
