Ad Council ad illustrating the necessity of locking up handgund

My sister's name is Cali. Also, when I was a kid I found an unlocked gun in my grandparents house. It was unlocked, but also unloaded. Which is an especially good thing since I pointed it at my cousin and pulled the trigger.

the hubs use to be a police officer

and brought his gun home every day. This was in the 80's before there were gun locks (or before we were aware of them). One evening, after stepping out of the shower, he came into the bedroom to find our toddler (Davey was 2 years old then) holding his loaded gun. Davey looked up at Daddy and smiled real big and said "Pow daddy". The hubs slowly reached down and took the gun away and never brought it home again. This scared us so much we got rid of all our guns and haven't had one in the house....until about a month ago.

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Wow.

This might explain why every kids project in our 1st grade class talked about how if they were President, they would outlaw guns.
