Puppet attempts to discredit accrediting agency

The march to mediocrity for Wake schools continues:

If the system drops AdvancED accreditation, what will happen?

...thousands of young people from across the country apply for college every year from non-accredited institutions and home schools, and they do just fine getting scholarships and admittance to top schools.

Roll up your pant-legs folks, the shit is getting seriously deep. Why don't we take a look at admissions requirements for one of those (neighborhood) top schools:

Admission Requirements

Admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is competitive. A student’s academic record (both the difficulty of the courses attempted and the performance in those courses) and test scores are important elements in admissions decisions, but other accomplishments and personal qualities are also relevant, since the University seeks a diverse body of students.

By their anticipated date of enrollment, candidates for admission should have reached the age of 16 and must have graduated from an approved or accredited secondary school. In addition, the University asks that candidates present evidence of the capacity to cope with the demands of University life.

Bolding mine. It doesn't say "should", it says must.

Putting forward the idea that high school accreditation means little in the college application process is not only wrong, it could end up costing parents and students a ton of money by limiting their options to pricey, for-profit private colleges.

But I have a feeling the author of this piece and his paymaster would welcome that development.

Making the case for private schools, perhaps?

What better way to ensure more students for Mr. Luddy's private schools than making public schools unattractive to suburban parents? Then use these same parents to demand education vouchers or tax credits to enroll their kids in private schools. Public schools trashed, private schools in demand = public funds into private pockets. Mission accomplished.

Resistance is Fertile

No doubt

About the only solid truth that is revealed from these various efforts is: All roads lead to the destruction of our public school system.

Note to the N&O:

If you're determined to fill your pages (and your coffers) with paid content from the Show, you might want to do a little research on the actual print version circulation numbers for Carolina Journal, and then find out what percent of those were given away as opposed to purchased. Oh, and you may want to grab a fresh copy and take a gander at the advertising within, but don't blink.

Some business decisions are tough, but some aren't.

The Show has op-ed placements every week

And the N&O is rapidly degenerating into a trashy little rag that regurgitates Show propaganda on command.

Heck of a job, Johnny D. You couldn't have destroyed the integrity of the Old Reliable more quickly if you had tried. Oh wait. You did try.
