Queen Aldona strikes again

DHHS has just mailed 49,000 Medicaid cards to the wrong people. Unbelievable.

Comments

Kinda negates...

...complaints about the Obamacare rollout....doesn't it?

You would think

But if you read the comments on the story, you'll see the wing-nuts using this as just one more story in which to attack Obamacare. It's beyond mind-boggling, into the surreal zone.

Oh, this is really, really, really different

IOKIYAR

Not.

Wos Unto Me

Wos, a fundraising puppet. Imagine if she (and her sub-puppets) had sent out 49,000 fundraising letters to NC Democrats instead of NC Republicans.

Aldona

is one of the smartest people Pat knows.

And that illustrates so clearly why Pat's administration is a debacle.

Deliberate sabotage?

Note this:

DHHS was trying to issue new cards to 70,253 children who were switched from the N.C. Health Choice program to Medicaid due to new eligibility rules. But more than half of the cards – 48,752 – went to the wrong Medicaid recipients.

Perhaps Aldona and her staff are trying to deliberately sabotage Medicaid and government-funded health care in general so those running can say "See! See! Government health doesn't work!"

It's not unlike Republicans in Congress and the legislatures defunding and dismantling all kinds of government programs and then complaining that nothing in government works.

Continuation

They've been deliberately sabotaging Medicaid since they got in. Every other sentence Pat spouts is about how "Medicaid is broken" and it's the reason he can't spend money on something else (usually teacher salaries). He is really pushing his privatization plan. Aldona and company doctored the government's response to NC Auditor Beth Wood's audit to deliberately misrepresent the state of NC Medicaid and supplied incorrect data to mislead the auditor.

It's deliberate sabotage indeed, and Pat's privatization plan is on deck.

McCrory defends NC DHHS chief after agency’s latest blunder

Rachel Seeger, a spokeswoman for the Office of Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said she could not talk specifically about the North Carolina incident, but when the medical privacy of more than 500 people is violated, the violator must notify the federal government within 60 days.

A spokesman at the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the office that oversees the government insurance program for poor, elderly and disabled, said it had not received a call from DHHS by Monday morning, but called the state agency to find out what happened.

Aldona is one of the smartest people Pat ever met

Proving he doesn't get out much.

Weekly major bungles and Aldona still has a job. It boggles the mind.

Democrat legislative leaders call for Vos to exit

Top Democrats in the General Assembly called for DHHS Secretary Aldona Wos to step down, noting that the Medicaid card mistake was the latest in a string of technical foul-ups at the agency under her watch.

"Enough is enough," Senate Minority Leader Martin Nesbitt said in a statement. "It’s time for the governor to get his administration in order and bring in someone at DHHS who can simply do the job.”

"There’s no question that the challenges faced by DHHS are significant and complex. That is all the more reason that the agency requires competent leadership with meaningful professional experience," House Minority Leader Larry Hall said in the statement
