This report reveals that the Republican-led General Assembly is full of beans when it comes to public education

Bottom line? The GOP has been claiming they're fixing an education problem that doesn't exist. And their solution is guaranteed to shred the integrity of North Carolina's public school system. As many have said, their goal seems to be simple: make public schools suck so much that regular people will turn against them.

Please take five minutes to read the entire report. The charts and graphs are excellent, and the conclusions are inescapable.

Our public school system has fallen on challenging times. The data, charts, and graphs in this article are intended to tell this story with facts and figures. Reduced funding will only continue to damage our local schools, reduce diversity, divide communities, force more cutbacks in classrooms and extracurricular activities, and fail to provide each and every child with the education necessary for success in life.

The mission of public schools has always been to prepare children for life as independent, productive, and successful adults. This can only be accomplished with excellent teachers and school leaders who feel valued by our communities and society at large. Educators are the backbone of our public schools. A very wise, veteran principal once told me the most important thing you can ever do as a principal is hire a good teacher. Back in the days when principals hired good teachers, they usually stuck around for a few years. How
times have changed.

But "beans" is too kind in this case. ;-)

for anger translating duty... The GOP does not believe in education but indoctrination. The scariest fact I've read lately is that Jerry Falwell University (under the oxymoronic name of Liberty) is the largest school in Virginia if you count their online enrollment (includes all of our local Christian schools) and that they now have a drone training program. No questioning of authority there, just the manufacturing of obedient zealots for the theocratic state.
