Reposting From Progressive Pulse

Hopefully Adam Searing and the good people at NC Policy Watch won't be mad at me for reposting this here:

This morning’s NC Insider contains a common slur used by Republicans about Democrats. The clearly ungrammatical use of “Democrat” as an adjective instead of a noun has been a Republican strategy for years. Popularized by Newt Gingrich and pollster Frank Luntz as a method of attack, the practice has spread beyond Republicans who wish to deny Democrats the positive connotations of the word “democratic” and now often crops up in the media. The latest instance was today, in a Insider-written report on a recent poll, where the Insider reported:

Also noteworthy in the poll is the difference between Republican and Democrat opinions on the issue of immigration.

This sort of language is not only ungrammatical but also clearly partisan. It doesn’t befit The Insider which has usually succeeded at being a good source for facts, information and behind-the-scenes commentary about the General Assembly. Use of such slurs belittles a publication that usually has no compunctions about telling the truth regardless of the effects on either Republicans or Democrats.
