Screwy! Screwy! Screwy! Ahem... Congratulations Gordon!

I can barely express how excited I am to congratulate Asheville and BlueNC blogger, Gordon Smith, who won a seat on the Asheville City Council. Gordon, who blogged as Screwy Hoolie and has been blogging longer than BlueNC has been in existence, beat Republican Carl Mumpower handily. Mumpower ran for congress against Heath Shuler in 2008.

Congratulations Gordon. I'm happy for you and so, so proud of you. I can't wait to follow your career.

I am quite sure that I have pissed off way too many Democrats to get elected to anything. That's OK, though.

Hey, I actually had the opportunity to vote for a couple of real DEMOCRATS (in addition to my fave Indy incumbent) in Clayton Town Council elections last night. :) Win or lose, that's a big step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned. It was pretty cool. And pretty different.

I doubt I'll see too many Democrats running out here in the county. I envy you. My friend called last night and we giggled over all the Republicans in other areas of the County. We actually had one who lost to the Write-in candidate. I need to find out more about that one. Could be something as simple as the man pulled out of the race, but it did look funny as we scrolled through the returns.

the candidates could have run better campaigns. I put up a little post about it.

I still cannot believe not one of them knocked on my door ... or left me a door hanger or something as evidence that they had been there. My voting record SCREAMED "realiable vote!!!" to them and I never even got a postcard from two of the D affiliated challengers. I did get one from the conservative challenger who won one of the three seats up for grabs. (The "I" incumbent knew he had my vote.)

Was it my dog? The flag on my porch? My humble little abode? What? I feel so unloved. LOL
