Shuler reportedly giving serious thought to running for governor
WLOS in Asheville reports that Heath Shuler is taking a very long look at the governor's race, and is apparently leaning pretty strongly toward getting in.
Good news: he'd probably clear the field if he ran. Bad news--unless the congressional map gets thrown out, this makes NC-11 a very, very tough hold. For those who don't know, under the Ruchomander NC-11 is the most Republican district in the entire state.

There's no end to that boy's ego
I'm sure I speak for many progressives when I say I would work actively to defeat him, both in a primary and in the general.
With Shuler's god as my witness, I'd rather see Pat McCrory as governor then Heath Shuler.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
Would I support him in the
Would I support him in the primary, no, but to say you would rather have McCrory is plain ridiculous. You don't speak for this progressive on just giving the governorship to McCrory.
Let me clarify
I don't speak for any anonymous progressives.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
I'm not exactly enthused about it either
But speaking as a Charlottean, I'd probably end up holding my nose and voting for Shuler. I've never forgiven McCrory for vetoing the living wage ordinance back in 2002--that pretty much torpedoed his faux moderate image.
Shuler would be even worse
Shuler would be even worse than Bowles. He's anti- choice. Need I go further.
Panthers need a Backup QB! Shuler is the Man
We all know that he will sit on the Bench the whole time and never get into the Game...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Blue Dogs
I would not vote for Heath Shuler for garbage collector.
After the way the blue dogs behaved during the healthcare reform debate, I'm with James, I'd come closer to voting for a damned republican - and it'll be a mighty frigid day in the oven before I do that.
Heath, no, no, no, n, no, no, no, no, NO!

I don't think Shuler has a chance...
...against Walter Dalton in the primary.

I am not sure I could vote for Schuler.
I know I could not vote for McCrory. I honestly don't know what I would do. Write in? Learn how to do that, I suppose.
I'm basically
getting to that same place with any pro-discrimination Democrat.
Thankfully the NC Dem party made some major pro-equality steps today.
I think Shuler's ego has outdistanced his abilities
and he long ago reached his level of incompetence. Remember when he inserted himself into the race against Pelosi for Speaker of the House?

Governor's Race
I don't know Heath Shuler since I am new to North Carolina. I do know that McCrory would be a disaster. He's already stated he would revive all the vetoed bills by Perdue. That means he would be a cheerleader for a hard right wing legislature. Perdue vetoed those bills for good reason--they were all right wing red meat social issues--like being ruled over by a theocracy.
Anybody but McCrory.
