More background after the jump on why NC has nothing to lose if we SLOW DOWN:

Lawmakers are on a path to ram approval of fracking through the General Assembly this year -- despite the fact that fracking in other states has polluted water supplies to the point where you can set tap water on fire right out of the tap.... fracking can divert the water table.... and the clean-up after fracking has led to earthquakes in Ohio.

Proponents say fracking will bring jobs to North Carolina but the oil and gas industry itself says economics mean they will likely not start fracking here for another ten years AND the jobs are highly specialized. Few, if any, North Carolinians are qualified for them.

What's the Rush?

Why are we barreling full speed ahead on fracking in NC when we could slow down, wait and see what happens in other states over the medium- to long-term and then make an intelligent decision based on the facts?

Attend this town hall and let lawmakers know where you stand on fracking

Please RSVP here.

I get excited...

.. forgive the capitals. But do, please, spread the word to family and friends in the area. It is idiotic to give the green light to fracking when we would lose nothing by slowing down and seeing what its longer term effects are in other states. Let's put this decision on hold, where it belongs, and focus on our state's immediate problems instead!

Lead, follow or get out of the way....

I will be there early to sign up to speak

I would like to meet up with all the activists from Orange Wake & Durham. Somehow we need to get early places in line for speaking because the press goes home and starts writing after somewhere between 10 and 20 comments. It's critical that i speak early because my property is surrounded by leases and I know the geologic issues.

Here's a shocking report on how endocrine disruptors may affect health at very low doses. Gas production emissions contain numerous endocrine disruptors. This is not my field so someone else needs to talk about it. Health effects are a key issue.
