So, Sarah Palin, you STILL think that abstinence-only is working?
Fine, Sarah Palin, we can keep all the candidates' children out of the critical public eye but where do you get off using your sons (the one in the military and the infant with down syndrome) as shining examples of your parenting and virtue all while your berating the media for so much as reporting on your 17-year old daughter's pregnancy?!
In truth, I really think it's better to keep the politician's kids out of it but this just highlights the incredible hypocrisy surrounding this campaign, their policies and, apparently, Palin's entire life!
Palin's daughter's unintended pregnancy has at least brought the fact that abstinence-only sex education is NOT working to the forefront as Bristol Palin joins the one-third of teenage girls who will become pregnant before the age of 20 in our country.
The N&O had a great article on sex ed today. While missing the fact that comprehensive sex ed does include tons of discussion of the importance of abstinence, I'm glad to see that a wide-range of people were interviewed including teenagers themselves!

I hope this spurs an honest debate
about sex education, but I doubt it will. Palin and her ilk subscribe to a faith-based version of raising children ... and quickly credit "god's will" with whatever happens to come along. Pregnant? God's will. War in Iraq? God's will. Drilling for oil? God's will. Killing defenseless animals from an airplane? God's will.
The O-No! article was okay as far as it went, but even so, they have a stake in perpetuating the polarization of the issue.
