Binker on Energy - Sausage Made Daily
For those of you wondering, "Why are energy company lawyers doing
drafting work on legislation, isn't there a legislative staff that does
that?" well, yes, yes there is. But they have a bunch of big bill
pending right now, including measures on hog lagoons and landfills. My understanding, which comes from legislators and other group
participants - not the staff itself - is that it's not all that unusual
to have outside lawyers do some drafting work during the "stakeholder"
process, as long as they take in to account input from all the other
stakeholders.Philosophically, it's not hugely different from executive agencies
which write and submit bills to the General Assembly. That happens a
lot, and they even get a special designation - "AB" - which gives them
a little more something-something getting through committee. It's an odd place the state legislature...sausage made daily.
Michael Moore's Question for the YouTube Debate.
How to handle your online life after death.

That is great
Good Question by Michael Moore.
I wish every Democratic Congressman, Senator and (hopefully) President would agree to that.

Do you think they'd even play Moore's question?

It's not going to come to Moore county.
He announced another 500 screens and a site to see where they were going to be. I went to the site and all of NC only had about 8 screens, and I THINK that included with the additional 500 screens.
DVD screening parties. Coming soon?

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Well, thanks for letting me know.
I'll either have to travel to see it, or wait for those DVD's.

I'd like to see this as well.
Even more so, I'd like to hear them ALL say that they will do universal health care in their first term, not AFTER their first term.

Yeah, it's a fun site, especially for hackers.
And, I mean that in the correct way.

I saw SICKO last night
and the stark contrast of what CNN was doing today was, well... stark.
They had call-ins for a professional health care insurance advocate who was giving free advise to people whose coverage had denied them, cheated them, disallowed things or canceled them. She had some good advice for some of them but it all involved the patient in elaborate, aggressive phone calls to Dr's offices, labs and red tape paperwork. I know that's what I want to be doing when I'm sick. Don't you?
The gem that Michael Moore left with us is this...in a Democracy, if all the people will vote and they vote their best interests, we will have universal health care.
In throwing down the gauntlet, Michael has give a golden opportunity, what a bold thing for a Presidential Candidate to do. These are days that call for bold actions, as Candidate John Edwards has eloquently stated.
Progressives are the true conservatives.
